Save money on your wedding!

Hey! I am getting married on Friday. Would anyone like to share their ideas for saving money when organising a wedding? Here's one to start off with - Don't go to printing companies to get your invites, placecards etc. printed. You are better off going to a paper place, buying quality paper and printing at home (preferably on a laser printer!). This will actually cost about 20% of the cost of going to a printer! And it takes about the same amount of time as well (even with a printer, you still have to come up with your own designs!) Any other tips you will like to share with others?

This is very good idea to save some money for your wedding. I am getting married in next 2 years but i am saving money for my wedding from now. I always try to make some money where from i can make. If you hav e abig house then you can arrange your wedding in your home. Because i will also save some money. And you have to pay more for a marriage hall. Also try to find a cheap cook if you are making food at home. If you are buying food ready made then its ok. But if you will prepare your food at home for guests then it will save a good amount also. Thanks

Make sure that the cook is actually good though! Nothing worse than having bad food at a wedding ... it becomes more memorable than the event!

You can handmake everything you'll use to decorate for you wedding. When my mother got married, we decorated the place ourselves. Bought the fake flowers and set up centerpieces, used wedding streamers that were next to nothing, etc. You could also skip the high priced photographer and have one person take pictures the entire wedding/evening and give them something, a gift or what not for doing it. Or, you can just give your guests those disposable cameras, or have them accessible to your guests so they can take pictures. You won't have to worry about paying hundreds of dollars on photo costs that way.

I agree with you here dodgyr. You have to save some money for your weeding because it is not an regular occassion. You have to spend for your honey moon. And for the rent of the house when you gonna live together. That is why you have to save some money.
