It must have been his most unlucky day for leaving behind such an expensive possession on a train. Rob Napier said Monday he did not realize the instrument — made by master Venetian craftsman Matteo Goffriller in 1698 — was still on the train's luggage rack until it began pulling out of the station. "I think you can imagine the awful, kind of pit-in-your-stomach feeling," Napier told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "My first instinct was: Can I jump on top of the train? But that was obviously stupid." And the worse part was that he saw it went away... What would you do if you are in his situation? Nothing could be done, just hope that someone would return it. It it were me, I wouldn't have left the instrument, I would have held it the entire trip. That's what I do when I have my violin with me and I use public transportation. I pity him though, it's obviously a very valuable and sentimental violin...
