eyeglasses or contact lens

I wear a reading glass. It's so hard for me to read anything without it. But if I am not reading I don't need it. I hate wearing glasses at all. I don't feel comfortable with it. If only it could be possible for me to read without it, I'd rather not wear any at all. I don't like contact lens too because it's to complicated to wear. What about you? do you wear eyeglasses? do you wear it because you need it or are you like others who wear it because of trend? Which do you prefer eyeglasses or contact lens? What kind of contact lens you wear, clear or tinted? Why? Share your thoughts. Thanks.

Well,I think it all depends on the duration for which you have been wearing eye glasses. Wearing eye glasses for the first time would cause irritation and discomfort. Even if you change your frame, there would be the irritation for 1-2 weeks. After that it will get adjusted. And you will feel no irritation when wearing eye glasses. You wont even know whether you are wearing it or not. Well,I think eye glasses are better than contact lens. I think you are feeling uncomfortable only because you use them rarely,as you use them only for reading purposes. Well,my suggestion is a little awkward one.I think it would be more comfortable for you ,if you wear eye glasses always.Buy another eye glass like the one you use. So,try wearing that eye glasses when ever you don't wear the reading one.I think you would get adjusted to it in 2 weeks and you wont have this problem. Well,I am sure that you would have gone to the extent of calling me stupid. I think your thought would be similar to this one:"I don't like wearing eye glasses even for some time and you are asking me to wear it always! Are you nuts?" I just told the way, which worked for me.Now,I like to wear eye glasses always! Go to this only if you didn't find any other way. Cheers ! Nice day to you

I agree with you. I used to wear eyeglasses for astigmatism before and I never took it off till I go to bed or take a shower. I wore it for 6 months straight then my eyes got better. I was glad because I really don't like wearing it because I really don't like anything on my face. I didn't need to wear it anymore. After sometime my problem got back but this time, it's no longer the astigmatism, it's my reading problem. So I just got eyeglasses for reading only. I still can't wear eyeglasses for long. But I don't have a choice so I had to wear it when I am reading and in front of the computer. Thanks for sharing, I appreciate it.

I wear eyeglasses because I have astigmatism and myopia and I am in front of the computer about 6 hours a day. Since they're multicoated, my lenses do not only give me a clearer vision, they also protect my eyes. I tried contacts for a couple of months but it's a pain putting them on and removing them. So I'm going to stick to eyeglasses for now. Btw, it seems that eyeglasses are considered fashionable nowadays, but only if you wear good-looking frames.:D

I agree with you. But eyeglasses are expensive too. So to follow fashion is not really a good thing for me. Thanks for sharing and welcome to mylot.

Yes, eyeglasses are expensive but they last longer. Unless you're a person who bumps on doors and slips every time. Which I doubt. :D I actually don't wear designer glasses. I look for quality over aesthetics. My frames right now are really light and strong so they don't interfere with my work and they don't get broken easily. :D

I don't wear eyeglasses or contact lens! My eyesight is not great, but ok for me to read, and I really hate glasses or lens.you know,it's so inconvient for one to do execises.and as for the lens, they are complicated to wear and if you don't clean them carefully, they may hurt your eyes! However,I must admit that most of my friends must wear glasses whenever they read something,Well, that's why they admire me so much!

Good for you. Years ago I was ok with reading without eyeglasses but as years passed by, I can hardly see the letters anymore that's why I had to use them. THanks for sharing.

hmm, unfortunately, I have a poor eyesight, so I really need to wear eyeglasses whenever I'm watching TV or working on the PC. Well, it's a little bit uncomfortable for me to wear it and I also hate to wear at all the time. But I rather wear contact lens than eyeglasses. Because for me it is more comfortable and not too obvious that you have a poor eyesight :D. However wearing contact lens is really a tedious one. You have to drop some solution in your eyes every now and then and you must have a clean hands when you're putting it in your eyes not to mention it will also expired. I don't have a contact lens right now, but I really like to buy someday :D

glasses definitely. there have been too many cases concerning lens. my grandaunt had her cornea cut and she had to live the rest of her life on some eye medication, which is VERY inconvinent in my POV. other case is my high school mate. we were in maths class and all doing work, suddenly half her contact lens dropped out. no matter how much she tried to get the other piece out, she just couldn't find the other half. a week later, also during math class, the other half miraculously dropped out. But OH MY, the horror of having half a contact lens inside your eye for a whole week

I could've imagine. Contact lens are really very inconvenient. So I guess I had to deal with my eyeglasses despite the fact that I hate it. thanks for sharing.

Wearing glasses takes a lot of getting used to. I used to wear glasses but then I just got tired of using them because I just don't feel free enough. Although, I won't regret that there was a time that I actually felt that it was the "in" thing and it was a fashionable trend. But then I was introduced to using contact lenses by my best friend. I really fell in love with the idea of feeling free and not wearing anything that is visible. But then wearing contact lenses is not for everyone. YOu have to be really responsible to take it off before you sleep. You have to clean your hands and your contact lenses really well because it is the only way for you to make sure that you do not damage your eye. A lot of people already suffered from misuse of contact lenses. So I guess, use it with care. Right now I'm using soft contact lenses because it is really comfortable. I also use disposable ones. You can simply throw it after two months. The good thing about it is you don't have to clean it that much because you are only going to use it for a short period. It also comes in packs so if you loose your contact lens there will always be extras.

Thanks for sharing. I once used glasses that when I was younger for fashion trend too and I regreted it. Now, I am wearing one for the good reason and I hate it. I don't think I will wear contact lens because I am lazy. At the end of the day the least I care about is to clean the lens. I rather spend it watching tv with my hubby.

fortunately i haven't needed to wear glasses. if sometime i need them (i hope it won't happen ), i will use glasses instead of contact lens because (yes you're right) it's complicated to wear contact lens.

I wear lenses- glasses give me headaches, they always have. I have tinted contacts that don't change my eye color, it only makes them easier to find if you drop them. I do have a pair of glasses that I can wear if I take my contacts out late at night but still want to read or watch TV. I can't wear them if I will be moving around much, though- dizziness and headaches ensue if I do.

When I read or drive, I wear reading glases. I have never worn contacts and never will. I love my glasses. They frame my face a bit. I can change my look on occaision. Contacts are easily popped out and lost. They take more maintainence and have to be cleaned to prevent your eyes from getting infections. And the disposable ones cost too much to keep replacing. Give me my glasses any day! I am 47 and have worn the same type since age 13! You get used to them quickly..don't have to freak out seeing them coming toward your eye while putting them in and..I will stay with them! No contacts for me!
