The Milk Disappeared

I fixed everyone breakfast and when I went to get the milk for my tea the bag was empty. Some bugger put it back in the fridge empty and I didn't know we were out. The stores here don't open til 9:00 and I can't function without a tea in the morn. So I scrambled in the back of the cupboard and found a can of milk that was there in case of emergency. It did the trick. I remember when my daughter was a baby and I ran out of milk. I was broke and had no money to buy me more so I used her formula for the tea. Oh is was gross but I had my tea. So I have a back up in case the milk disappears. Does food or drink disappear in your home? Do you have a back up plan? Will you do anything to get your fix in the morn?

yes, food does disappear in this house - and containers are neatly placed back in the cupboard and fridge... what do they think the brownies will come by night and refill them? or maybe they think mom won't notice if I put it back empty.... what mom won't notice is that we are in need of it until it is too late. I keep dried milk on hand for such instances.

it sometimes happens that we find we are running out of something. some times we have backup, and some times no backup. we have to manage by without having it. still it goes on.

Actually, I found myself without milk just the other morning, right after I poured out my cereal into a bowl. I didn't realize I was out, and I wasn't sure what else there was for breakfast. Luckily, inspiration struck. I had a can of strawberry slimfast shake in my fridge door. Used in moderation, it works well in cereal. lol

I use skim milk, and buy the UHT Litre cartons in 12 packs,so I never seem to run out! Sometimes,I'd buy the dried stuff...I HATE running out of the stuff..

I don't drink coffee or tea in the morning, so no milk would not be a problem for me, but my kids would have a fit. I keep 2 gallons of milk in the house, so that it does not become an issue around here. My kids drink so much milk I can't run out.

I like milk for my coffee so I keep some powdered creamer in case The milk is all used and No one lets me know. Most of the time the kids let me know when the milk is getting low. They don't like to do with out it. I don't drink any thing in my tea but some honey for health.

Putting an empty container back sounds like something my husband would do :p I make rice milk and soy milk. Unfortunately both are a bit time consuming. The rice and soy beans have to cook for hours before pureeing with water. However, I do always have rice on hand. I've pureed tofu and water too to make "milk" which is much quicker.
