I have recently been getting into quite alot of gardening in my yard this year. I find the sun really hard on my eyes and so I normally wear sunglasses whenever I go outside, but I find when gardening they make it hard to really see what you are doing anf also they fall off sometimes, because gardening ususally involves alot of looking down. Rcenlty I have been wearing a short brimmed ball-cap style hate, but I have been cosidering getting a traditional staw hat for working out in the yard. I have not yet done it though because I cannot decide if a straw hat is cute to wear in the yard, or if I would jsut look silly becuase they are too old fashioned. Please give me your opinions on straw hats. Are the fashionable for garden work? Are some good and others not? What style should I look for if I decide to get one?

Hi there. Well for starters, I wouldnt really care about looking good in the garden, especially when it comes to not wanting to be sunburnt. Id rather wear the silly hat then to get burn, put up with the pain and ending up looking like a beetroot haha. Cheers, good luck with the hat and have a great day...

I think they look great. I sometimes get one if I am abroad in a hot country to protect from sunburn, but it is a great idea to wear when gardening.
Besides, who cares what you look like when you are on your hands and knees, with your hands covered in dirt. I really don't think it matters so long as you are comfortable.

I would not care about how it looks! I used to be picky and not want to look out of style, but after having sun damage my skin and change my looks, I will wear a hat every where I go! I no longer care if I do not look so good in my hat. I want the best hat possible, to prevent my skin from turning red, and getting more damage! I have rosacea, and it is not pretty as you age. I get skin tags and spots from the sun, so I know it is important. We also have to try to prevent skin cancer, as there is a hole in our atmosphere that can burn you very quickly!
