Once again the speculation of an impeding war between the USA and Iran is escalating. Here are four links discussing this subject. http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/iran_nuclear_strike/2008/04/14/87887.html?s=al&promo_code=4940-1 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/03/21/wiran121.xml http://rawstory.com/news/afp/Iran_the_new_motivation_for_US_war__04142008.html http://www.huffingtonpost.com/joe-lauria/the-coming-war-with-iran_b_96428.html My own opinion is that this is not going to happen, it should not happen, and that if it does, Iran will be defeated very quickly. What's your opinion concerning all these stories, speculation and rumor concerning a conflict between Iran and the USA?

I hope the USA doesn't go to war with Iran. We should stand quietly by and support Israel while they annihilateIran, if there is enough threat for them to feel the need to do so. The USA's war coffers are empty. I can't justify the US borrowing funds from China( has already happened, btw)to continue to police the world.

You make a very good point. The cost of policing the world is breaking the economic back of the USA. If it is necessary to go to war with Iran, we really should make Iran pay for that war with oil, unlike we did in Iraq.

In the first place, I think Joe Lauria is a freaking idiot by continuing to claim this war is about oil. I also think the peak oil theory is a myth just like man made global warming is. As to my opinion of these stories... I believe them to be nothing more than speculation and rumor contrived by people with nothing better to do than keep people stirred up over the coming election. If we do go to war with Iran, it will be over quickly with Iran wishing it would have stayed out of Iraq and left Israel alone as well. I seriously doubt that it does happen, nor do I think it should, UNLESS Iran does something that makes it necessary to defeat them. I do know Iran has been begging to be destroyed for a while now.

Yes, journalists have to write about something, even if it does not make any sense. They have to produce to meet a quota of having a sufficient quanity to publish just to fill space. I especially agree Joe Lauria does not have a clue. He's maybe 10% correct in what he has to say, IMHO. Some of the other authors are making a little sense. Still, I have to think Iran knows better than to push this to the point of war. I am reminded of a journalist not too long ago writing about how strong Iranian air defenses were and how this would not allow the USA to easily defeat Iran like the USA did Iraq. I will not explain why he is wrong, but I know for sure Iranian air defenses will not delay our defeat of Iranian forces if we go to war. Iran knows this, too. Therefore, there will not be a war between Iran and the USA. That is, unless Iran's President is as delusional as he pretends to be publically.
