Have you experienced "age shock?"

By "age shock," I'm referring to a sense of wonder about reaching a given age. You may find yourself thinking, "OMG, I'm 40 (or 50 or 60) already? Unbelievable!" Then you reach a point soon after where you quietly accept that number and move on. I've also managed to move on. When I turned 40, I thought pretty much the same thing --- I'm that old already? I now think that 40 years of age is relatively young. So, was there any point in your life where you experienced age shock? You don't have to tell your age, just how you felt on reaching that point.

More like age denial. Who is that older woman looking at me out of the mirror and what did she do with my body? I can't believe I'm as old as I am, but I am. :-)

I hear you. I still can't believe my age either, though by the growing number of little aches in the back and a wrinkle here and there forces me to believe. Overall, I'm pretty healthy. I also think that having good health is important, even more so than how old one is.

Hello scribe1, I am only 35 and when I reached 30, I was surprisingly telling myself, "OMG, am I that old now?" When I think about my age now, it doesn't bring any important meaning to me anymore. I always remind myself that it is just a number. As long as I enjoy myself and my life, it is more than enough for me.
