I have always shied away from supplements, pills and so forth for weight loss. I have heard they make your heart race, you can't sleep and they are for short term use. I have also heard some are successful. Share your experienced with weight loss supplements, pills or herbs and how if effected you.

Hi ailina, welcome to Mylot :) Ok, well iv taken many different slimming pills and medications in my time, with varying effects. The pills containing stimulants, such as caffeine, can sometime make your heart beat a little quicker than normal, and can make you feel a little jittery at times, but these are the ones iv had most fat-loss with, as they speed up your metabolism, and are obviously a little stronger than some of the pills with no side effects at all. They can certainly keep you awake at night, but generally such pills shouldnt be taken before bed .. usually the dose is morning and lunchtime, so theres time for the stimulants to wear off before you need to sleep. When i want to lose fat, im happy to take a little discomfort to get in shape as quickly as possible, but i understand why other people wouldnt want to do such a thing. I used Chitosam, fat-magnets, and other such fat-absorbing pills, along with Carb-blockers for a long time, with no side-effects other than some constipation, and some success.. but as far as results go, the stimulant type fat burners seem to be most effective at fat-shedding, Im currently using Nutrex Lipo-6, and i can certainly recommend them, if you dont mind stimulant type pills. xxxx

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I did not know there was a difference in fat absorbing and stimulants supplements. Sounds like you have had success with several.

Yes, iv had many many different pills and formulas in my time. If you cant bear any of the jittery side-effects of the Lipo-6 (which is very good btw), then just try the Chitosan Fat absorbers and Phase 2 Carb Blockers.. this will certainly help you a little, but its much slower. I tend to use them more for maintanance, or if i know i have to go out to eat,a nd have to eat something too fattening. Good luck, and any more help just give me a shout. xxxxxx

I have tried practically everything. Nothing over the counter works unless you starve yourself, and that's the worse thing you could do. The two pills that I warn everyone of are anything STACKER and that new pill Alli. Stacker makes your heart race horribly and gives you the jitters, makes it hard to sleep and your constantly on the go with no appetite. And Alli, they warn you of not so pleasant symptoms if you have too much fat intake. Well, regardless of how much fat intake you have, the pill absorbs it and it only comes out of one place in the end...if you catch my drift. Oily, loose and uncontrollable stools. I stopped after 2 weeks of diarrhea and no weight loss. I take a prescription pill called Adipex along with a craving stopper called SuperCitrimax and those, plus a low-cal diet and daily excersie have helped me lose 25lbs since January 4th of this year.

Sounds like a healthy weight loss. That would be around 2 pounds a week to loose. Very good job!

I have tried just about everything. Too many over the counter ones to remember. Most of them didn't have any effect on me. Most had lots of caffeine and did make it difficult to sleep. Some times I would have trouble sitting still. My heart did not race though. I tried fen-phen. That was a horrible experience! I was a nervous wreck. I couldn't sit still, I couldn't concentrate and when I finally went to bed, I woke up after less than two hours and cleaned my whole apartment. When I finished, it was time for work and I was tired, so I took another pill and started the whole cycle over again. I only took them for three days. I just couldn't stand it.

I am so glad you are with us today! Some folks lost their life with fen-phen intake. I appreciate your sharing about the lack of effect too. The marketing on these supplements is very strong and one can easily spend money on them. Thank you for your response!

Hi Ailina, Welcome to mylots. Good to see you here. I must admit that I have not tried any supplements for weight loss. I have though heard of one that supposedly does not have some of those effects... I have heard that it is available at the Vitimin Shoppe and is a natural supplement made from a plant, and please forgive me, I do not remember what plant it is made from... My pranic healing instructor told me about it and suggested that I try it. He said that it was the only supplement for weight loss that the Vitimin Shoppe liked so much that it carried it under its own label. As the money has been tight lately, I have not tried it as weight loss, although it is needed,is not one of my high priority funding items at this time. Good luck in finding the information that you are seeking. Hugs

Thank you for the welcome. Natural options surly are the best bet. They would absorb into the body more efficiently and naturally. Thank you for sharing the resource.
