My daughter says I am Cursed with bad luck and I believe she is right.

So today after school, I took my daughter to the mall which is about an hour and a half from here. This is a big adventure for us as I don't have much money and I had to save for this mom, daughter bonding trip. I check all the fluids in my car before leaving and noted that I needed to get gas. We stopped at the the gas station and I pre-paid. I got 35 cents worth all the pumps shut down starting with mine. As the manager was talking to me, one by one everyone else pumping gas started yelling at him. It was a fiasco to say the least. Finally we are on our way. I muttered to my daughter that bad luck just follows me. A few miles later, I see a cop on the side of the road watching traffic. I told her I had a bad feeling about it and she said I was paranoid. No I was not...cop pulled us over. My licence plate was tilted and he thought it was ready to fall off...it was just the way it was put on. Still...I was so wound up from the gas adventure that I neglected to put on my seat belt...got a 25.00 fine. Did I mention that the coffee I bought at the gas station was cold and gross? I told my daughter again..trust me...I have bad luck. She said ..oh mom , that is just coincidence. We pulled into a rest area so I could get out and have a much needed cigarette. As we went to leave , the car parked to my left backed out and I slammed on my brakes to avoid a collision. I began backing further and the car on the other side backed out and I almost backed into him. At this point my daughter said ...mom, maybe you are plagued with bad luck.We made it to the mall and all went well. When we left, it began all over again. I had to pee and we needed gas and were hungry. I stopped at the gas station and got gas. The bathroom was out of order. We got back on the highway and took an exit to get food. We drove for miles only to find a country type ice cream place. now we are lost and their bathroom was also out of order. It took us an hour of driving to find a bathroom and food and our way back. Oh and my sandwich was so gross that I tossed it. Oh and my clutch started slipping on the way back...very cool. Anyway I'm home and tired but it was a bonding experience. I am sure that by tomorrow I'll be laughing at it all. I didn't even mention the argument I got into with my daughter who thought i should spend 30.00 on a pair of flip flops. would you?

It's not you sweets - it's the car. Get rid of the car. You seem to be fine out of it - so dump the car! LOL Oh my, I was nearly pulling my hair out in sympathetic frustration for you reading this. And yes - do come back and read it tomorrow and get a giggle out of it. And good idea not to mention the argument about the flip flops - it would have ruined my joke about the car being at fault! ROFL

ok...it's tomorrow and you are right...it is all funny now. oh but last nite, i was pulling my little hairs out by the roots! Every time i almost cried my daughter would get all concerned and it pulled me back..."don't worry, I'm ok." Oh but I wasn't. She asked me not to tell anyone about the flipflops...so i've blabbed it on the internet. I have talked to her and i think made it clear that if it were a pair of jeans, i'd been ok with it....flip flops? 30.00? ...It's just wrong. right? Anyway ...new day and not a new car so I hope its not just the cars fault. your funny and thanx for helping me see the humour.

You're welcome, sid. I have three lovely daughters, and unfortunately they live a long way away and I don't see them too often. But I really look forward to their visits, and we have a good laugh just like you do. Daughters are pretty special!

Hello there sid. Believe me, there are "shi***" moments like this where I have experienced it too and trust me, everywhere I go, the sequence of events would be bad, bad and bad, ha! That's not a curse and don't take it that way, my dear. Just take it that it so happens that one whole day everything went wrong and like you said, to make a "laughing" matter at it. Don't worry so much about it, sweetie and I know that your experiences were really bad at that time and you almost got into an accident. But at least you are safe and sound and that's what matters the most. If something like that were to happen to me, I would chill with my friends for a bit and cool myself down before coming home. Take care of yourself and have a nice day there. -smiles-

Hi zed...thank you for your kind words. You are right. I am already looking back and laughing about that day. Its all about the memorys and what maybe would have been a bland shopping trip turned into a memory that my daughter nor I will soon forget....we had a good time together even with the "bad" stuff which looking back wasn't so bad and we just chuckle about it now because it really one thing after another and 2 bathrooms out of order and the only 2 places we stopped....too funny.

oh my flipflops for thirty dollars no way. Isnt it the way though when one and another thing goes wrong, everything' seems to dump on you. I know awhile back I had a doctors appt, and overslept and had to jam on myclothes as the access bus came early so got on the bus, myh blood sugar low as I had not had 'time for breakfast, and we almost collided with another car. okay so I get to the doctor's office and walk inl, and apologize for being ten minutes late. she smiles at me and says you are actually early .your appointment is for tomorrow morning. I wanted to cry then my doctor saw me, and said something to the clerk and she says, I can squeeze you in at ten forty okay so something finally did go right that day.

Hatley, that is hilarious...i can relate to it so much. it's true that when things start going wrong...everything seems to go wrong. I almost think that I get worked up and bring it on myself. then days like the one above...I guess just a tester. Ha...still chuckling over the stress you went thru to go to the appointment on the wrong day. Sorry hatley but that is a good one.

ever heard of the "law of attraction"? it states that what you are thinking or feeling affects your destiny. so to have a good destiny, think positive. it's just like the idea of positive thinking, positive attracts positive. if you think you will have money, the universe will connive to give you money, as long as you strongly believe so. that's the theory. so how would it apply to this scenario? you were thinking you had bad luck all along and the universe connive to give you one. as simple as that. it's generally theoretical and sometimes i doubt it but sometimes it seems true. like when you want something very badly, you try to do what you can and suddenly, you will get it. it's not only thinking, it is also acting.

yes, i've heard of that and actually read up on it. I think it is true. thing is when your in the middle of a bad day, and you don't have time to ponder well, that is when it all goes crazy as did with me that day. looking back, its all good...wasn't as bad as it felt at the time and i got some good memories...funny even with my daughter. I'm telling you tho, when you have to pee and one place after another is out of order...you do have to wonder. lets not even get into all the other random stuff that happened...like really...who ever gets pulled over for a crooked licence plate???

I don't think its you. Things happen for a reason. Maybe you'll get something positive out of this situation.

Hahaha... Sorry just had to laugh. I don't think somebody is cursed with bad luck. I'd say it just isn't your day dear. Look at the brighter side, at least you had your daughter with you. You shared a good experience, a good laugh later on. haha. There are really days like that. As the saying goes, when it rains, it pours. Don't feel so bad!

I can understand your feeling. When we look forward to some thing and then on that day everything goes wrong, you feel miserable. Dont worry, these days are there in everyones life and one has to just learn to live with it. Maybe tomorrow you will see the funny side of it. Dont go putting ideas of bad luck in your daughters mind. It could have a negative effect on her. As for flip flops, all children want things for which the cost dont matter really. Have a wonderful day today and enjoy yourself.

You sound just like me. If anything could go wrong for me, it does. I have the worst luck in the world and I sometimes think that someone put a jinx on me. But I just keep plugging away and hope that things will one day change for me and good things will start to happen, not just always the bad things. I agree with you on not spending $30 on a pair of flip flops. You can get a cheap pair at Super Store for $3.00, but then your daughter probably wouldn't wear those ones because her friends would make fun of her. Kids at that age are into name brands and have to have the best. I am so glad my kids are grown and on their own.

Thanx chris. Luckily for me...the bad luck only comes in spurts and when it does...it is all at once and really not that tragic...just oh so frustrating. Days like this you just want to lock yourself in a room for damage control. As for the flip flops...you are right...kids are into name brands but mine just has to deal with it as I can't afford the name brands. If I have the money, I do splurge on jeans and tops for her when they are on sale but 30.00 for flipflops will never happen here.
