Reading can sometimes make me feel sleepy it all depends on the book, if it is an okay or not very good book then it will make me feel sleepy, but if it is a good book then it will keep me awake. The TV usually makes me feel sleepy, but once again it depends on the program and how tired I am to begin with.

I love watching CSI too, but if I am really tired I will fall asleep watching it, due to the fact that it has soo many breaks in it.

It can, depending on what it is that I am reading. If it is a book that is rather interesting, then yes, it tends to make me sleepy. Strange, huh? LOL I also tend to get sleepy after being on the computer for longer than I should be. But that's usually because I'm on it late at night when I should be asleep! LOL

You're such a genius! I have been having problems with insomnia lately and find it hard to sleep. I had forgotten about reading books to fall asleep! In the past when I've read before falling asleep, I've always enjoyed more peaceful rest. I will definitely try that out tonight. I have a really nice Literature book from college. And I feel at peace when I read it. Would be the perfect way to finish my day. And I think my daughter would enjoy hearing some of the unique stories in the book, too! Thanks for the reminder.

Ummm...reading does not make me feel sleepy cos it's one of my hobbies. What makes me feel sleepy is a heavy meal of rice. That really makes me feel sleepy. I gotta go lie down for a while like 10 to 15 minutes of deep sleep and I would feel okay after that.

har har har thats bad. it might make cost you have some bad dreams and it is hard to wake up. i heard a lot of people die during sleep because of a heart attack and that was cause of sleeping with a full tummy. i too feel sleepy when i am full but i dont like to make a habit on sleeping with a full tummy. i am scarred. har har har

while reading suspense/psychological-thriller novels, fantasies or (even horrors maybe), i don't really get sleepy. i read them non-stop that i can finish a book in 2 days (excluding hours inside the office of course where they are not allowed). if it's romance though i would probably finished reading in a month or weeks. i love those nerve-wrecking, mind-boggling sort of interactive because it makes you guess who's who or what's real, and full of actions story plots. reading something that's out of my interests but is forced to, to complete requirements, like in school (so that was when i was still a student) never failed to make me sleepy.

har har har yes it makes us very sleepy when a book was just forced to us to read just like you said at school. homeworks or reports are really boring that even if we want to stay awake it always makes us sleepy.

Yes, if I can't sleep I read for 10 minutes in my bed, curled up under the covers, then I usually fall out cold for a couple hours. Then I wake up, pee, and go back to sleep again with no book this time usually.

it depends on what i am reading...if i am reading a book that is really very interesting then it won't make me feel sleepy at all...but if i'm reading a boring book, then i fell asleep so soon....

yes i think boring reading material can really call the sleep. i have hard time to catch sleep if i am reading something interesting and makes me more wide awake. har har har

Reading does make me sleepy - that's why I read just before bed - it relaxes me so that I can fall to sleep easier.
• Philippines
26 May 08
yes it relaxes are body and make our eyes tired that the reason we fall asleep while we are reading. but that is not effective for me all the time. sometimes reading leaves me wide awake har har har. but in a very tiring day i dont need to read anymore i fall asleep at once.

Well, for me reading helps me fall asleep. Everytime I can't sleep I just grab a book and read till my eyes get tired and I get sleepy. sometimes turning the TV on could make me feel sleepy, too.

Dude, that's what I do whenever insomnia attacks me.. I read almost everything, but usually the novels from my favorite fictional authors. Sometimes I also place the fan close to my head, so my eyes would feel heavy and sleepy.. Weird huh?! And if ever all of these doesn't work, I would then get up and open my computer then log on to mylot..
• Philippines
18 Apr 08
har har har raijin that is wierd yes, place the fan close to your head... har har har. weird but yea that can help. because if you are reading something then the air gets to you eyes you feel like closing it. ohh no mylot makes me stay awake i cant do that.

I listen to music to help me fall asleep. If I read, then it just makes me even more awake, unless I'm really that tired. When it starts to get later, the computer will start to make me fall asleep as well. Really, though, if you want to knock me out, put on some music, and turn the lights out. I'll be out for the count then.

har har har, i know what you mean. that happens to me too. instead of calling the sleep it goes far and even hard to reach. there are really nights that even we are so tired it is hard to get some sleep. well specially when it is really hot

If I am reading a good story it can keep me awake for hours because I want to keep reading to see what happens. I often fall asleep listening to the radio through my headphones. I find it very relaxing, whereas reading is keeping my mind active.
