Well this is a rant at Mylot and my frustration actually grows.

About half an hour back I came across a discussion on the types of meat one has at home and I was quite interested in replying to it. Well I read the post and clicked on the comment button and then went back to my word dox where I type & save my responses and then copy-paste them in Mylot (in case of power failures or such) Well I had typed out quite a lengthy and thoughtful response and then when i went back to Mylot in the hope that the response box must be open by now, I see the message of server error.I refresh a few times but when the page does open, I no longer see my discussion. This is so frustrating and it has happened to me quite a few times before. I write out an elaborate reply but the net has stopped in the meantime and five minutes later when its working again, I just cant find that particular discussion. I think Mylot should introduce some more user friendly features like an option to allow us to search a particular discussion if we remember the discussion subject mentioned in bold or maybe search out the user by name so that I have a way of locating that particular discussion started by that person. I have just wasted so much time searching for this disussion and now I am really feeling very very frustrated. Do you know of any ways to trace such discussions (maybe there is but I dont know)

The only thing that I can suggest is if you remember which Interest it was under which I guess would have been food go to that Interest and see if you can find it there I hope you find it again I really do as it is annoying when that happens

good for you Mooch! But genuinely the more I am loving Mylot the more I am getting frustrated at some of their oversights. They seriously need to add something for us to relocate discussions. Its not possible to copy and preserve links of all discussions that I would like to reply. Every time I hit the ‘today’s top discussion’ I find at least 2 to 3 that I would like to reply to. By the time I am over with the first one, the others are gone from the first few pages. And then maybe I will find them 2hrs later by which time my thought process in onto something else. Its really does bug me

Hi Gabs, I did try that but when eventually the discussion surfaced again on its own, it was under cooking. And then my interests don’t necessarily match with that of others or maybe the interest under which the discussion was created, isn’t in my interest list at all. I usually see who has started the discussion and try to remember that. So it would be really helpful if we could locate the users by name. I hope mylot’s listening! (reading). Another of my pet peeves is that I cant sent pixes to my friends in privacy. Like say I would like to forward a pix of mine to you, it would have to be in my profile which anybody can see and in this age of cyber crime I wouldn’t like to unnecessarily expose myself. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could send pixes too just like PMs??? Suds

I hate when this happens. Especially if it a New discussion you are starting as well. I have had this happen to me quite a few times over and over again, and when it happens, I tend to just leave myLot for the time being and move on to something else. It would be nice if there was a way to keep things like this from happening, but a lot of it is SERVER issues, as in maybe myLot is more busier at that time, and there is overload? Sometimes it could be your ISP as well, but chances are it is myLot.

generally it is Mylot and I understand the crash problem since this is a global site. All the more reasons why they should have a convenient and fast system of relocating discussion which are gone due to any reason. This would make mylot more user-friendly. Thnx for your time.

i think you are justified in what you say. i am also facing the same problem some times. may be we can get a section where we can bookmark all the discussions that we want to visit. in that case we can again visit them when we are able to do so.

it happened to me so many times that I actually started this discussion in the hope that I will find some guidance from my friends here and I did! Seems like if we remember at least part of the discussion subject, we can put it in the search box on top and search for it. Give it a try, I’m sure it will work.

possibly the discussions being tagged by numbers or something and then you can go back to that interest and might be easier to locate or just search for that number, good thing you save your replies though in a word doc so you can still copy and paste it though

well this discussion was under cooking (I could finally find it later) and I may not have cooking under my list of interests! I usually respond to posts on today’s top discussion and these are from varied interests, all of which are not on my list. I usually see the name of the person and so I think we should be able to locate a user by name.

Hi you are new here so its OK. What I have learnt though is that if we remember some part of the discussion subject, we can type it out in the search box on top and search for it in mylot. Many of my friends say this so it must be so. Next time I lose track of any discussion, I’ll give it a try. Thnx for your reply.

hi sudipta! that was indeed very frustrating. are you still having the same problems? i hope not. i do encounter similar problems like that. i would respond to a discussion and an error would appear saying "problem loading". i don't know where is the problem with that kind of error but i'm sure its not my internet connection. maybe myLot has still its glitches. it would also be helpful if they would improve their search feature. sometimes it really frustrates me when i search for a related discussion and i would find none but the moment i start the discussion, that's the only time i would see the related discussion the list below. they should refine their search feature so it can be beneficial to us.

I don't have that problem. Check out your side of the page and your profile. Everything you are involved in chatting about in the last time you were here is listed for you. That really helps me.

Yes, it is quite a waste of time to do this typing and have it all for nothing. This is mylot and they are new and kind of rough around the edges but they will come around when the money starts pouring in and they can get some good help. The reason most of the deletes is that the data base has a short fuse and is quick on the trigger. I have the same problem and try to limit my comments to a few less lines. But since I seen your are a high poster and a high rated person its all ok[em]l

Hey Sudipta, This has happened to me severally and it is bad. When it happened to me twice in one day I just closed all the mylot windows i had opened without even signing out! Ouch I was bitter! Where is Clash? He should be here commenting on this discussion and giving us a way forward. I thought he was put here to do exactly that? There are alot of questions here in mylot that need answers.

I wish that there was a way of saving a discussion somewhere for responding to later. I quite often come accross something which I'd like to think about more before responding or simply don't have the time to repond to at that moment, but there's no way to bookmark it for later. Sometimes the search discussion feature doesn't work, as it depends on the tags that have been entered.

hi sudipta, i am really sorry what happened to you and i have been victim of things like this here on mylot and if you refresh the page then what you have written is certainly lost and you get a new response page with no answer written.. i think if you refresh the page then what you have written shouldn't be lost and mylot should also introduce edit button too so you can change your response if you dont like it.
