PHILIPPINES 2004-2006:
The Music industry had changed winds to the rock singers ,
rock bands , emo...
Some of them are:
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
My chemical romance
cradle of filth
Fall Out Boys
And some OPM(original pinoy music) rockbands...
there are many emos and rockers in our country
but on last year 2008 , There are actually 4 POP/HIPHOP/RNB
Singers that changed again our music style here in our country and they are:
Akon - Smack That
Sean Kingston - Beautiful Girls
Soulja Boy - Crank That
MC Magic - Sexy Lady
Soulja Boy is very popular here in our country.
In fact there are community contests for his dance moves
HAHAHA..
And by this year
I thinks it is
FLOW - FLO RIDA

Well since it seems MTV controls the world. I would have to say My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and Buckcherry(since they had that huge single "Sorry") Buckcherry had a decent carrer which got rocket launched when they appeared on MTV.
Oh and anything that is rap or hip hop on MTV.
