day trading,, your thoughts about it...

hello, i know it sounds like a big gamble but i want i am not gonna take a plunge and just go there without knowledge at all. i am thinking of learning day trading and see if i can understand it or not. got a book (the complete idiot's guide) and havent open it yet but will start today. what triggers me to think about it is that, i remember watching BBC news and saw this japanese guy who works at home for few hours in a day and earn big bucks. he have 3 computers in his office and he just watched the stocks and buy and sell when he feels that it is the right time. i know it is not as easy as it sounds coz if so, there will be lots of person doing the same thing, BUT still i want to try my luck maybe after a month of watching and learning how things go and play on my own and see if my guts will lead me somewhere. anyway, my question is... what's your thought about it? have you ventured in such thing? what's the pro's and con's? any suggestions? warnings? precautions? your words is highly appreciated! thanks a lot!
