Is home where your heart is? Is your house the place you know you belong? Or do you hope to venture off and find yourself somewhere else that you can truly call home? I ask this because at the moment my 'home' is with my family in a small town in England, but I know that this is not where I will call home in the future. Your thoughts...?

in my case at the moment, i feel that my home really is where my heart is. in the philippines, it is practiced that families including grandparents live together, it just encourages a more close or closer family ties. my home is where my family is at the moment and the house that we are living in is the home that my grandad built for him and my grandmom and father. ive lived in my home ever since and i couldnt imagine myself moving away and not coming back ever. i do have dreams of moving to other countries and experience a life independent from my family. and i have travelled a bit to different places in short days and i always am excited being in a new place, seeing new faces and etc. but its always good to come back to where you were, where your roots really are. my home always has a hold on me because its where i grew up, every bit of corner has a special memory. the house has a sentimental value making it very near and dear to my heart.

That's great. The english culture isn't like that. Some of us live in extended families sure but a lot are nuclear families - and stick together just mum, dad and kids. I live with my mum and sister, while I do see my 2 other siblings occasionally - it's not as often as I'd like. Also I see my dad sometimes but not very often. I see a lot of my aunty and grandparents because they visit my house but don't live very near at all. It's just a totally different set up. i would miss them if I moved away permanently I suppose but it's not enough to keep me here.

yes it also is a 'different strokes for different folks' thing. i could understand why my dad got to live in the home we are in now since he is the only child and both my grandparents are no longer with us. but now were 3 siblings and i dont know who will my dad pass the home down to. lol.. but i dont mind as long as its in the family.

I have to say its no for me. Although i have lived in England all my life i don't see it as where my heart is. As in a couple of years we are planning a move to Ireland thats where i feel my home will be. As i have found thats where i feel happy as i have friends and family there. And it is where you youngest son and partner were born.
