In our house, we've always called them either a pacifier, or a nummy, lol. I guess nummy sort of came about when we were children, and mom said here, it's nummy, lol.

Oh yeah, my cousin's who have children, always call it a Binky. lol. I think that's sort of funny, because a cousin of ours has a dog named Binky, haha.

Binky is a strange name for them but then it seems as that is another American name for it. Must get confusing for Binky the dog when you say to the children "Here's your Binky" lol

Here in the US, the correct term is pacifier, but I have heard a couple of names for them. Binky, or nuk-nuk, or ninny. Usually they are the family's name for them, and not really widespread. This is a subject that I am not too familiar with. Neither of my children liked pacifiers. They were too greedy. I tried with the both of them in the hospital, and they both gave me the same look. They would suck on it a couple times, then spit it out and look at me as if to say "There ain't nothing in there, what'd you give me that for?"

We call it a plug in our house, my youngest who just turned 3 used one maybe 10 times when she was under 1 and only at nap time but we carried one with "just in case" we needed to "plug her in". LOL

My husband's mom and dad called it his pipe. We started using pipe also and we were always conscious of where we used it. I know it might not be the best name in the world for it, but we have become used to it and so has my son. He doesn't use one at all, but when we point one out to him, that is what we call it.
