Have you seen this 'history mystery'? I find it very intriguing. While it has been presented as a discussion on MyLot before, it was quite a long time ago (I ran a search and found that it had been posted nearly a year ago). So, I figured that since I have just seen this 'history mystery' for the first time today, that perhaps some of you may not have seen it either. I'll pose my questions now, because if you're like me, by the time you get to the end you're going to be overwhelmed by the freakiness of it all. So, my questions to you are: 1. Is this a matter of simple coincidence? 2. Do you believe in haphazard coincidence? 3. Is there some otherwise reasonable, or perhaps an esoteric explanation for these coincidences? 4. Any other thoughts about this? Thanks, I'm looking forward to your reaction. ____________________________________________________________ "Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946. Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960. Both were entrenched with civil rights issues. Both wives lost their children while living in the White House. Both Presidents were shot on a Friday . Both Presidents were shot in the head Now it gets really weird. Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy. Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln . Both were assassinated by Southerners. Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson. Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln , was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839 Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939 Both assassins were known by their three names. Both names are composed of fifteen letters. Now hang on to your seat. Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.' Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by 'Ford.' Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse. Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater. Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials. And here's the kicker... A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe." Weird or what???

Complete coincidence. If you look hard enough at anything, you will find the enough parallels to make it freaky. Notice they don't mention all the things that were different. Lincoln shot in a theater Kennedy, shot in an open car Lincoln shot by a pistol Kennedy shot by a shotgun Lincoln killed as part of a conspiracy Kennedy killed by a "lone gunman." Lincoln, only person injured in the attack Kennedy, several others including Gov. Connally hit It could go on and on. I like the Tecumseh Curse theory better.

Hello Rosettaresearch, Thanks for the reminder, I've not heard mention of Tecumseh's Curse since the assassination attempt on President Reagan. As I recall, there was much hullabaloo over the possibility that the curse was eerily behind that assassination attempt. Though, as Ronald Reagan recovered from the attack, I also remember much discussion that IF there ever was a curse, that Reagan's survival broke the curse. Since you've identified that you like the theory of the curse better, do you have any thoughts about whether Ronald Reagan broke the curse, or not? And, why George W. Bush survived his first term, to be elected for a second --and is still alive and kicking 7.5 years later? For those who may not be familiar with Tecumseh's Curse: http://wovoca.com/prophecy-shawnee-tecumseh-curses-presidents.htm

" ... he politely asked the presidents to no longer ask him to meet with them." Too funny! Politely asked? I'm surprised that he didn't make a declaration denying any and all presidential access. Thanks for sharing this fun fact!

Hi Luna, I remember this post from a year ago, and the reason is because I showed it to my 13 year old who wanted it printed out to take to his American history teacher to either prove or disprove. The teacher was so in awe of his contribution that Jake got a 5 point extra credit added to his grade. So I suppose that meant Mr. history teacher could not disprove it. What I think about this is that however interesting it might be, if we think about it long enough we can come up with correlations to meet any circumstance in our lives. We can run ourselves in circles and it will in the end make sense. Now I would like to hear your take on it as you have not in your post here :)))

Way to go Angelwhispers and Jake, too!!! As well, a big 'hurray' to the teacher for rewarding Jake's history curiosity. That five point extra credit probably went a long way toward positively incentivizing Jake's curiosity about life and learning. Thank you for the follow up on history's seemingly repetitive patterning. Yes, it seems that we're not a terribly fast learning species, eh? Did you have something particular in mind in your mention that "we gained freedom only to give it away yet again."? As for my take on it all: if you don't mind I'll reserve sharing for just a bit. I'd like to avoid possibly affecting the direction that the discussion might take. Though, before all is said and done -- I will share, I promise.

yes Luna, the very structure we, our ancestors fought so hard for the freedoms we are slowly giving away. Freedom of speech, freedom to worship, Freedom to pursue happiness. We are giving it back to a structured government. They see us as little soldiers, to fight the war of oil and wealth. IRS federal Reserve. We are slaves once again.

Although Luna, haphazard coincidence does indeed happen. They do say history will repeat itself if we do not learn the lessons the first time around. from the Boston Tea party, to the war today, Americans have yet to learn, we gained freedom only to give it away yet again.

I had actually seen this before in a book I have about strange but true facts. I think there is more then just coincidence going on here. I'd like to point out also that rosettaresearch said one was done by a lone person while the other was a conspiracy. There is still debate going on with Kennedy as to whether Oswald worked alone or if there were more so one cannot really use that as an argument against it being anything more then coincidence. I really don't know for sure if there is more then just looking at things the right way but I do know one thing. I would not want to run for the presidency in 2060 and if I did my running mate would not be someone named Johnson. I would not want to tempt fate to have it repeat again.

Hello Emeraldisle, You make two valid points: the first, regarding the ongoing challenge to the Kennedy 'lone gunman theory', and the second, in not tempting fate as a Presidential hopeful with a running-mate named Johnson! I do think that it's all pretty bizarre. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here, Emeraldisle!

Hello Emeraldisle, Geesh, for not remembering the title, I'd say you did pretty darned well. Especially since it was 2am. http://www.britain.tv/unbelievable_facts/unbelievable_facts_coincidence.shtml "In 1898, retired Merchant Navy Offices Morgan Robertson wrote a novel, The Wreck of the Titan, which uncannily predicted the Titanic disaster 14 years later. Apart from the similarity in the names of the two ships, Robertson’s Titan was also huge, supposedly unsinkable British liner making its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York with 3000 passengers on board. It too struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic and sank with many people losing their lives because of the shortage of lifeboats. In April 1935, a ship named the Titanian, carrying coal from Newcastle to Canada, almost suffered the same fate as the Titanic when encountering an iceberg on the same area of the North Atlantic. Luckily, crewman William Reeves had a premonition of impending disaster and yelled “Danger ahead!” to the navigator shortly before the iceberg beamed visible in the darkness. Reeves was born on 15 April 1912 –the day the Titanic sank." I recall reading or hearing that the crew, and some of the passengers of the Titanic were supposedly watching a film about a sinking ship, even as the Titanic met up with that iceberg on that fateful night. Though, the name of the movie escapes me. Have you heard the story of the movie?

You're very welcome. I think it's a bizarre situation as well. I find things like this fascinating. Have you ever heard the coincidences between the one book and the Titanic? I'm blanking on the name of the book (it's 2am here) but it's about a ship called the Titan and it was written like twenty years before the sailing of the Titanic but it has a lot of similarities.

OH yes, I remember this. Really weird, all those coincidences. Makes you think sometimes. Of course when we want to find something similar about people we can always dig enough until we find them, but still some of those ones are... weird :)

Hello Arkaf, I'm surprised that neither Hubby nor I had ever seen this before. Especially since we're both fond of History, as a subject of interest. Good point about similarities existing between many unrelated incidence and/or people. This little 'history mystery' should serve as a fine example that even the most ardent adversaries could probably find some common ground or circumstance to serve as a common denominator. Still, I agree that these 'coincidences' between Lincoln and Kennedy are indeed weird. I think it would be really interesting to see a Numerologist try to unravel this mystery.

I always thought that there were way too many "coincidences" in this. You can always find differences but these are way too precise to be simply coincidences. I could see the odds of mere chance if we had hundreds of presidents killed in office. But there has only been a few. The odds of having this many "coincidences" is just too astronomical. But I have no real answers either. Unless.... It is a conspiracy of the Lizard People! www.reptoids.com/introduction.htm

Hello Guardian, I am at a complete loss for words!!! Well, except perhaps to inquire about whether or not the use of barbituates is an evidenciary correlative to a reptoid sighting??? This story humbles me. Here I was thinking that I've been around the block a time or two, then whammo, I get slapped up-side the head with a reality such as the "Reptoid Research Center". Perhaps that 70s t.v. show "Land of the Lost" was actually an important warning to all of mankind that sleestaks are a very real threat? http://www.landofthelost.com/

I checked out the link that you provided. And, quite frankly, I'm not sure that I can handle more reptoid research than that, in one day. I'd rather have my world 'rocked' incrementally. You really need to watch out about ticking voo-doo priestesses off. Ya' wouldn't want to end up a zombie, now would ya?

Do a search on "lizard people" or "reptoid". Its amazing. They believe that the lizard people are disguised as out political and social leaders and they are leading us into subservience. Check out YouTube as well. They have videos that purportedly "prove" that they exist. It's crazy. I'm glad you are making sure we stay PC. I have already angered too many voodoo priest/esses for this lifetime.

That sounds like a lot of coincedences. However, in my opinion, coincedences aren't always random. So there may be some sort of rhythym...only time will tell. An assasin born in 2008??? to attack a president elected in 2046???Who knows?

Hello Edgyk8inmomma, Hmmm, a rhythm to events. Now that is an interesting teaser! So, would you think the existence of this type of 'rhythm' is more esoteric in nature? Or, more of a natural phenomenon: like the vibrational frequency associated with certian numbers, letters, or characters? Or, astrological in nature? Or, something else completely? I haven't been 'tickled' by a good tease in some time, so I very much welcome the extraction and expansion of your train of thought here -- sincerely!

I was thinking the same thing! Who is going to be born in 2008? John Abraham who will be killed by Lee Harvey Kennedy? Abraham will grown up in the suburbs and be killed at his ranch. And Kennedy will grow up an a ranch and kill him with a Suburban? Lol.

This has been floating around for a good while. Another oddball thing is that so far, every U.S. President that got either assassinated, whether attempted only or successful, they all terms that started in years enging with zero. Like the two pointed out, Kennedy & lincoln started their terms in 1960 & 1860 respectively. McKinley - second term started in 1900. Ronald Reagan - First term startdd in 1980 There may have been others that I am leaving out. I also believe that there have been attempts on Buish Jr (who's term started in 2000).

Hello KrazyKlingon, Perhaps "Tecumseh's Curse" might go toward explaining this phenomenon. The first responder refreshed our memories about Techumseh's disatisfaction with the inhumane practices of our gov't of the past. Although, it is believed that Ronald Reagan's survival put an end to the curse. On a totally different note: I am seeing a repetition of that cute little puppy. Is there another 'protest' going on?

I have actually read about this parallelism between Kennedy and Lincoln since I was in elementary school. I remember how I gasped at each information. These things do happen once in a million or maybe billion cases. Thanks for posting it here.

Hello Jemina, Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Wow! I'm really stunned that I've only recently seen this comparison, when most everyone else is so familiar with it. I wonder how I missed this. Anyway, your point about the extraordinary odds of something like this happening is very thought-provoking. Thanks for bringing up the odds.

Well, I can't really blame you if you have just seen this recently. You know there are millions of happenings and events in this world and we can't filter them all at once unless there is nothing else we do but read all day. I'm sure you're not the only one who has just seen it recently. Some may have never seen it yet. This is life. Best regards!

Hello Idaantipolo, Nicely done -- you're really thinking outside of the box! Yes, this would kind of fit into the reincarnation, life lesson theory, wouldn't it? Would you theorize that all reincarnated souls experience similar coincidences? Or is this a fluke in that it represents a blatant pattern of similarity?
