Well every one, I have seen support for both.Oh I should have first told you the question Here it is: When you respond to discussions,do you want/expect some one like the discussion starter to comment your response? Some like to see comments to their responses. Some others complain that the thread starter is just saying "Thank you for the response",and add that it would be even better if they don't comment. So,I am in a fix whether to comment to the responses of my discussions or not.Well,I do certainly add 2 or 3 sentences other than that "Thank you". So,to which category do you belong?Whats the reason behind it?

I don't expect anything from discussion starter. I only express my thoughts and feelings in my response. Or if someone need help or answer of some question then i helpe him if i know about his problem etc. I also don't want any comment from any member or discussion starter. I think mylot is a place for sharing your ideas and thoughts. Thanks

When I was new here on mylot, I would write -Thank you for your response' (in the very beginning) but immeidately I realised that some interesting and meaningful comments are necessary to make the discussion lively and crispy. So I make it a point that I should post meaningful comments, counter-comments and sub-comments on the discussions started by me. LOL! You can check out my discussion. Sometimes, if the reply to my discussion is very very brief, I do not post my comments, in that case. Most of my friends here believe in posting their comments on most of the discussions and it make the discussion really meaningful. Good Post!

I think I can follow you Posting only meaningful and interactive comments Some times,I am inspired by some 3-4 responses in a discussion, and I think of commenting on it that I agree. But,some times,I just don't know what to write there. Of the 4 good responses, one you can mark as the best response, the other you can comment, but I don't know what to do with the rest 2! Yea,I however rate all good ones. Cheers! Good day to you Happy discussing

I don’t expect a response unless I am asking a question or giving them new information they do not have.

I try to say thank you to responses from my discussions but I know when people have loads of responses that it just isn't possible! So I don't mind if I don't get a response. However, if I have taken the time to respond to a lot of their discussions and don't get a single thank you then I wouldn't bother responding to any others. If I feel the need to add a further comment then I will, especially if a question has been asked. I think you should just go with the flow and see how you feel... :)

To be honest i dont really mind so much if someone doesnt comment back on my reply to their comments. However, if they do leave me a comment, its a pleasnat bonus ~ and it does make me feel warmer towards them, that they've taken the time to write back. I understand though that some people are very busy, and dont ahve the time to respond to every single post, but its certainly nice when they do. xxx

it's okay if somebody doesn't comment on my discussions. it's their right not too and they are not obliged to do so. but of course, a simple thank you would be really appreciated... coz it means that they took time to read your response =)

Thanks a lot for responding But,you know one must atleast add a sentence or two,as just saying 'Thank you' is against mylot guidelines. So,atleast if I have a sentence to say,I will comment on the response. Cheers ! Good day to you

I don't expect everyone to answer every response of mine (I do a LOT of responses every day!), but I do try to do it for my own discussions as much as I can, just to acknowledge that someone took the time to say something. I don't give just a 'thank you' (which is against the rules anyway), but I try to add at least a line or two that will complement what they've said. I probably don't answer 100% of them, but it's pretty close.

I never expect a comment on my responses but I am always delighted to receive a comment and I do like to read them. I don't just want a thank you, and I think myLot rules state you should not use the comment box to say thank you. When I start a discussion, I always try to add a comment to each response. This makes it a more valuable and interactive discussion. It is up to each member to decide whether to add comments or not. There is no requirement to do so.
