How do you decide what book to read?

Does a book catch your eye because of the front cover? Or do you read the synopsis? Do you only read what friends have suggested? Maybe you have favorite authors that you only read their books and wait impatiently for the next one to be released. For me, I think its a combination of all of those things and then some. I definitely have my authors, but I can't wait for them to put out another book so I'm always looking for something new and interesting to read.

i agree, I'm more likely to read something that someone suggests to me, especially a friend who understands my tastes, or the librarian always has something new for me to try.

I'm not sure how I decide what books to read. I mean, I have a list of books I want to read, but I don't exactly remember how I found them When I was a kid, before I had access to the internet, I went to the library and scanned titles and covers of books. When one caught my eye, I would read the summaries on books. If it interested me, I'd read it. When I was a teen, I did the same thing, only I didn't read the entire summary. I don't like to know exactly what the book is about so everything is a surprise. Now, I don't get to go to the library as often, so I find what books I want to read online. I might type in a certain subject like "paranormal romance" in Amazon.com. I might use some of the filters at the side and if a cover looks interesting, I read the first few pages of the book. I won't read any of the summary or people's reviews. Lately though, I have a lot of books I've already read, but I want to re-read. So I'm not looking for any new books.

Flower - Flower photographed at the garden next to my house.
Practically every newspaper have review of books by eminent writers. After reading their comment on the book, I go for purchase of books. There are some very wonderful authors whose books I just buy without going into the reviews. I dnot go by attractive cover page printing on the book. It is very good to read new and interesting books.

I like VC Andrews books. I dont usually read fiction though. I really enjoy reading non fiction books such as true crime and true hauntings. I really liked a book called "The people in the attic..the haunting of Dorette Johnson" Very good read if you are into true hauntings.
