Did (or do) you take vitamins while pregnant?

This came up in my mind when talking about breastfeeding somewhere else. While I was pregnant I took a full spectrum high quality vegan vitamin that came in little tiny pellets, you take 7-8 a day and I was thinking if I didn't have them I do not think I would of been able to take vitamins my whole term because those vitamins you get in GNC, the grocery store, drug stores are so huge. My second pregnany I did try them but I swear they made me think I was going to choke. How did you do it? Did you make up for it some other way? Do you give your children vitamins now? Is their alternatives to vitamins in your particular culture?

I tried to take my multivitamins, but I was REALLY bad about taking pills. I just was naturally sucky at it. I always forgot or it upset my stomach or whatever. Whenever I did remember, I took a doctor prescribed prenatal and a DHA&ARA supplement called expecta with Omega-3 in it.

I do take prenatal vitamins and a calcium supplement. I cannot not take the vitamins that my OB prescribed but I do take the over-the-counter ones. The prescription strength ones make me sick to my stomach so I just by the store brand ones at the dollar store. I do still give my kids vitamins everyday. I buy the gummy bear vitamins for them because they like the taste and are easier on their little stomachs. I also like to serve veggies and milk with every meal to insure that we are all getting good nutrition.

I hate the huge horse pills they want you to take. UGH! I actually didnt take any when I was brest feeding, just during the pregnancy. I was fine and so was my baby girl. But you know what you could do is eat those tasty flintstone vitamins!

i guess vitamins are important for a pregnant woman in order for her child on the womb to be healthy and strong especially if she knows that her body is not really healthy and a lot of strenous activities are being done by her everyday.

Maybe this has already been proven but I wonder if that is why so many woman end up with Osteoporosis in their later years because their body has been depleted of the vital bone structual vitamins needed to make a tiny body, especially calcium.

Yes, I did took vitamins when I was pregnant. I took all of the vitamins my Ob-Gyne gave me. Some of those vitamins are big, others are small. Some taste bad, others just fine. I did not try anything except for what my ob gave me. I so afraid to deviate from it, thinking that something bad might happen to my baby. So no matter what it taste, no matter how big it is, I just took it... all for the sake of my baby. Yes, I give supplements and vitamins to my child daily. It was prescribed by her Pedia. There are herbal medicines or alternative methods of healing here but I follow the doctors' advice more.

I was so afraid of Spina Bifida, even though it is very easy to supplement folic acid into your diet but still that scared me just because I couldnt see my tiny baby having to undergo surgery so so young--I think alot of young mothers suffer from folic deficiencies
