Guillermo Habacuc Vargas is an artist that decided to capture a stray dog in the streets in Costa Rica. After the capture he tied the dog to a corner in an art gallary with a short rope, he gave the dog no water or food, and displayed the dog as art as the dog slowly died. People came to the gallary and basicly ignored the starving dog, or at least until he died. The art comunity is wanting him to reproduce this act of art again. There are petitions on line to sign to stop this so called artist. I for one will sign them all. There is art that crosses the boundries and this has gone way to far. If i ever saw this man i'd probably be in jail for the things I would do.

This is horrendous! How can he say he was bringing it to the attention of people about stray dogs - if he was that concerened he wouldn't have been able to let the dog just die as anybody who loves animals would have stopped it straight away. If I had been in that gallery I would have straight away untied the dog - it makes me so angry that people do this kind of cruel stuff. Where are the petitions to sign do you know?

It's insane! If you want to bring attention to some horrible situation you dont go killing things! My guess is that was just an excuse to get people off his back. I would have untied the dog too, to hell with his art!

That is just awful and is blatant animal abuse, there is no justification in the name of art. Personally I don't think that was very artistic but nowadays I guess anything will fly as art. I think that man should be jailed and starved just like he did to that dog. The people that viewed the exhibit and said nothing should be ashamed, and the people wanting him to reproduce it should sit themselves up there and starve to be the exhibit instead of a defenseless animal. I totally agree with you and think it ironic that we would probably be jailed for saving the dog if we were in the situation.

I agree! The poor dog probably that maybe one of the people walking by him a hundred times a day was going to give him food. Thewy poor dog had a hrad enough life as is, but to end this way? It's revolting...

Good point he probably did think someone would feed him and the poor dog probably even wagged it's tail if it could do so. I really hope that he gets punished for his inhumane crimes in the name of art.

I think he should be arrested. Everyone who stood by and watched this poor dog die is guilty of animal cruelty. What a despicable man. If I was there I would have called the cops on this idiot. How can people be so cruel? This is not art! I'll need to find those petitions and sign them myself.
