Jan Jan Issue vs Vicente Sotto Medical Center

Philippines

Okay so stop with this issue. Guys, people of the Philippines. This issue is way too overexposed. Whenever I read the editorial of newspapers, I frequently encounter the story of this controversy. Too much publicity of the so called Jan Jan and the scandalous act of the doctors and nurses doesn't make the Filipinos rich. A foreigner might say while reading a newspaper would possibly say "Filipinos are really this and that..no wonder they are still behind us" or one might criticize the unprofessional acts of the medical team who were assigned in that particular operation. After that, what will happen next? We didn't even get a dime when we condemned the nurses and doctors. All have been said and done. It's obvious that this Jan Jan would either file a legal case or would want the nurses and doctors to be punished severely to his content. I'm not siding with the doctors, after all I guess one cannot blame me if I say that those doctors and nurses deserve whatever punishment they will have. I don't really think that this issue deserves its attention. The reason behind this controversy's popularity is due to the fact that majority of the "kabataan" is taking up nursing. It is the "kurso ng bayan" after all. They ought to not do the same thing those doctors did else their license would be confiscated or they will be punished severely. Yes it is a rare and unique case but it's not the greatest when we compare it to one issue that could never be properly addressed to. What, for me, is the greatest issue is how filipinos would survive the rice crisis and many other crises that we have to face. It is a fact, for example, that it's against the law to give alms to the poor but what, pray tell me, have the government done to properly address the issue? Yes, they said that these street children should be in the care of the government but then how many street children are still there loitering around malls and not to mention many other places? You may ignore this blog perhaps you still can't feel what I feel but try this. Go shopping in malls then when you go outside carrying a lot of bags, several street children would look hungrily at your shopping bags and would beg at you. I felt so guilty and ashamed of myself. Constantly, we think of our selves and what would be our future yet how about those who have no future? Can't we even place ourselves in their situation and brace the fact that this world, our world has gone cold especially to the less fortunate. It's time we think less of ourselves and think of what good we could offer more to others.
