While shopping you remember that you need a certain item but cannot find it in the store, so you find the first store worker you find and ask them where it is. Then they say yeah its just there (just happens to be right in front of you!!)
I work in a store and the amount of people that ask for something and its right next to them or in front of them!!
Do you ever feel silly afterwards??

Yes, I had this experience once. I was already in the right aisle but couldn't find the product. I turned to the staff and asked if they got any of this thing. And she pointed at the lowest shelf. I felt a little embarrassed but I reasoned out that well, I don't come here often...

Its a pain when they have the item but its not been pulled forward so you cant see it. The bottom shelf is sometimes missed as you tend to look at eye level.

I personally don't ask people where things are most of the time, because I work in a large retail store (Wal-Mart) and I know where EVERYTHING is. I usually only shop in Wal-Mart, because we have 2 of them close enough to my house that it's just stupid to waste gas to go anywhere else. I have been asked numerous times where things are by customers. I always bring them right to the item, no matter how far it may be, because well, it's part of Wal-Mart policy that if asked by a customer where a product is, we have to take them to it.

I work in a store aswell and its also our policy to take the customer to the product but sometimes they dont follow you so not only do you have to get the product but then have to to take it to the customer for them to decide if they want it or not!!
Thank you for comment.

Yes, I know, I hate it when that happens. I also hate it when a customer asks you to get them something, and bring it to them when you find it. They tend to wander all over the place, and when they do that I just forget about them. I have a lot of my own work to do, I'm not going to do someone's grocery shopping for them.

You shouldnt feel bad about having to 'disturb' the worker as after all they are there to help/assist you and if they dont then I think you should have a quiet word to the manager about the lackness of help that worker is offering!!
I know what you mean about grumbling staff, we do grumble sometimes depending on what it is they are looking for. I mean if its something noticeable then we do grumble otherwise I turn it into a joke so the customer doesnt feel bad/embarrassed!!
Thank you for your comment!

Hi Cindrella,
I have not had to ask any store worker for help. I have been shopping at the same supermarket for a long time now. I know the counters in and out. Since they know me very well, some one will always be with me chatting and helping me out.
So I have not had to ask or search for something.
I have a list also mostly with me.. so the girl will know what I need next, she'll get it for me if it is not nearby. I try to go to the market when there will be less customers. So they also find time to chat with me.
Actually I enjoy my shopping on those days..

Yeah I do that, but it doesn't embarrass me. In fact I don't just do this is shops,I have a tendency to get lost. And sometimes I'll ask where something is to have someone point and say 'Yeah it's right there'. I guess I've done it so much that it just seems normal to me lol

You just enjoy getting lost and having to ask for directions!!
It does embarrass some or they use the comment 'I cant see for looking'
Im surprised something actually seems normal to you!!! lol

I don't have that problem often because I can usually find everything I need quickly even if I don't really know where it is. I've had people come up to me in the store and ask me where something is. I've also had people in front of me in line have a problem or question with an item and I told them where it was at or where it might be. Even when the cashier didn't know. I don't really feel too silly because I overlook a lot of things. It seems that the things I'm looking for at the time tend to disappear from my view even if it is right in front of me. I really hate that.

It does help when you work in a store, you generally get the idea of where things are placed!!
Sometimes customers do see what others have fgot and are rteninded they wanted that or decide to have one and therefore want to know where the item is.

There are some cicumstances that this one happen to me. I actually understand because you can't rally possibly know where is everything is right but what I don't like about some salesladies is that they don't know where is this and that plus they don't help you. They're supposed to help look around right. Some would just say "I don't know" and give their back on you.
