*** when will i get a star?***

i can see stars next to the profile of a lot of friends in mylot. i was actually wondered what it was. but now i understood that the stars are nothing but the reputation levels of users. when will the star begin to appear against my name? is it after reaching a specific number of posts or after getting a few best responses or something like that? anybody clear about the mechanism? if you know the answer, please share it with us.
and one more, people say that their rating keep on fluctuating day by day. how does that happen? does it have any connection with the activity level?

you will get a star after you reach 100 post here. the star colour depends on your star rating, now the star ratinmg is dependent on mylot reputtaion. my lot reputtaion depends on how you are perceived in this forum. its calculated in scale of 100 how many times you are rated +.

I've been reading through all the discussions on this matter and found them quite informative as I didn't know about the ratings, the stars and rating all the responses you receive. I'm quite new here and won't be able to post a lot but I hope to get a star too someday.

As soon as you reach 100 posts, you will be awarded a star depending on your participation and ya i mean quality participation over here. You can see the ratings as + , - .. by the side of every post. As more people rate you positive for your response, more are the chances for an improved star rating. It may also decrease if people rate you negatively. So your star rating completely depends on other people's views.
And ya, even i have noticed the discrepancy in the star ratings, where people over 500 posts have a star rating even lesser than mine where as i have posted only around 400 responses. I got my 9th star rating at around 320 posts. And hoping to increase it to 10 soon. Where as there are users on my lot with posts ount of 800+ and rating of 5. So others views may affect our image.
SO dont you worry. Just keep on participating. You will surely be rewarded.

if i remember correctly,you get it when you have 100 posts..so you're almost there.what color depends on how many good "+" ratings you've gotten on your posts.

thanks scarlet for the info. so, it means i have to make my posts more and more quality ones. so, done. will try to do that. actually, from post one, i am trying to be genuine and post the comments only which are relevant to the situation. so, will continue to do that. thanks once again.

Normally, members here get there stars once they reach their 100th post. But it's not just the star that matters. This include the color of the star and the number in it. It is important that you post quality discussions. At the same time, it pays off if other members rate the discussions you post as well as the responses you give. Good luck!

hmmm... may be. they are not transparent in a lot of matters. but it is good in one sense. we will not try hard for getting those through any means. so, they are keeping this suspense. lets see. i am making a close watch on my profile, to know what are the changes and when does it happen. sometimes, may be i will be able to know more about all these...

Well, I can see from your post number, you are at 77 right now, so you are getting close. You will earn a Star when you reach 100, so you have 23 posts to go is all. That is not too difficult unless you let it be.

As you have already been told you will acquire a star when you reach 100 posts. This is because it is difficult to rate someone with 2 or 3 posts etcetera.
Do not be concerned if the rating is not as good as you expected, because it all depends on who has rated your posts and discussions. It is nice to have a good star rating, but a poor star rating does not necessarilly mean that the quality of your participation is not good.

"all those happened are for good and which are going to happen are also for good". this is a famous saying in my country. so, be positive, enjoy the life.

As of right now, you have about twenty more posts to go before you get your star. Your star rating is awarded to you once you reach 100 posts. The star rating is a representation of your popularity on this site, determined by the rating you are getting from the + or - ratings you are getting in your discussions and responses.
The reason that so many people's stars have been fluctuating so much is that there is a troll or a group of trolls going around and rating people negatively. I usually don't worry about my rating, but its making me mad because I am being rated wrongfully, even after all my hard work. But I have a plan, stay tuned...

thanks friend. i am fast approaching 100 :) good to see a start against your name. and i have one more doubt. what does the number written on the star indicate? is it the number of stars you got? but i think, 10 is the maximum number of stars that i have see in anybody's profile. what is the mechanism behind the numbers? is it really the number of stars you have?

As the "veteran" mylotters said, you will get you star once you reach 100 posts and you are nearly there. IF you are really keen in getting it, i think you can before the end of the day as you are just 19 posts away. Good luck. Its also good to read the terms as a lot of do's and dont's are stated there.
