Relieving Stress

Many people do many different things to relieve the stress in their life. I meditate, practice Reiki, do yoga and Tai Chi, as well as many other things. Even with all of this, I never find myself more at peace than after I've worked with my wife on destroying and rebuilding another section of our house. We have just about finished the living room now. We painted the ceiling and walls, re-varnished the floor, and coated the trim. It went from a drab nicotene stained wallpaper with dry scuffed floors and nasty burnt orangish trim, to a sage type green walls with beautiful white accent on the trim, and a super shiny polished solid wood floor. Though my body does not feel as relaxed and well... pain free as it does with the other activities (basically I've pulled every muscle in my back and legs doing this) my mind is as calm as a stone. In this day and age peace of mind is so necessary. What do you do to put yourself at ease?

i relieve my stress over the net, to be honest. it relaxes me if i am online and is just simply answering posts topics and sharing views. others may find that boring but through writing and reading, my mind is taken off from work and problems.

To put myself at ease and release all the stress, I usually just sit down and relax. Sometimes, I close my eyes or just stare at a bare wall in the house or at something that is not full of color (my teacher in health once told us that you could stare at the green leaves of the trees because this helps your eye muscles relax). After that, I watch TV, listen to music or read a book. Whichever comes to mind first.
