It's located @ 475 Columbus Ave. I was at a friend's flat and we ordered delivery from there twice in one year and had gone in on a few occasions at different times. Sporadic visits were because we figured, "Hey, maybe they had a new guy/ gal making the food that day." and "Well maybe they're short handed and it's busy." Or, "Maybe the sub guy is having a bad day." We wanted to always give the benefit of the doubt. But in reality we were gluttons for punishment both said to each other, "Hey, screw Jared!" He never tried to wrap his lips around a dry, hard and crusty bun that d@mn near cut your gums and you HAD to open up the bun to try and find the fixins. "Where's the beef!" indeed.
They can part with the lettuce, tomatoes and tuna for what they charge in this town. And at those prices this time I want a little dolphin with my tuna melt sub. LOL!! I keed, I keed people. It's a joke, don't call PETA on me. :-}
Now yes you can say, why don't you make your own sub or sandwich? I do and prefer to. But sometimes a person wants someone else to do it. Otherwise why promote the joint on the tele? You know where I'm coming from. Anyway, if you live in Manhattan, or plan on visiting the American Museum of Natural History, and you've got a hankerin' for a veggie sub and 'Baked Lays' chips, avoid the SUBWAY @ 475 Columbus Avenue like the plague. It's terrible and a ripoff.
Get thee to a real NY deli or corner 'bodega' and have the guy behind the counter whip you up a hero that's just as good if not better.
On the other hand, the best SUBWAY I used to frequent when I used to hang out in 'the village' downtown is at 46 Seventh Avenue South. It was diagonally across the street from a small **women's bar I used to go to. Load up on starches before you start drinking. I'm not a drinker but it always kept from getting ill or too blitzed. I learned the lesson of not eating the hard way whenI was sitting in the back of a cab after more than a few amaretto sours, and I up chucked maraschino cherries into my department store shopping bag. i'd been shopping before I hit the pub for happy hour(s). LMAO!!!
But I digress. That particular Subway, unless they've expanded, was tiny but immaculate and turned out some fantastic hoagies. Absolutely dee-lish! And it's money well spent; still pricey but you won't have to search for the fillings and toppings. Nom-nom-nom.
**Note: that women's bar changed hands years ago. Pity. The place was pill box sized and purple on the exterior, but cozy & homey.
Cheers!
