I am not particularly sure but, it was during my college years when the sister of my mother sent us a lap top which I am using right now to post this response. Still works well compared to the one issued to my father from work which happens to be a more latest model..

It's a good thing that you know how to reformat a PC. I don't know how.

I have reformatted it a couple of times so I really need to duplicate the disk that it came with it a few time just to ensure me that it'll last long enough. I wouldn't like to install another OS on it since OS are such expensive softwares. Your quite welcome by the way

Hi there nice! Oh, I will recommend that you buy a UPS. So you won't have to worry in case of power interruptions. I had my first personal computer when I was seventeen, second year college.

I was about 9 when I got my first computer, which is 8 years ago. I don't know what I did before that lol. My first computer was a brick with windows 98, but I loved it and it lasted me 5 years, before I got a new one, which is the one I have now.

Hi there Elixiress! You started early. That's great! I used Windows 98 for years too. I think that time it's the most stable OS and we really need a stable one for our internet cafe. Thank you very much for your response.

Yeah I am part of what they call the "technology generation" and most people my age started around the age of 10, some a little younger and some a little older.

That's great. My son is in your generation too then. He learned using the computer when he was 4, playing around with paint and now that he's five, he plays DOTA, Battle Realms and lots of mini-games.

I had to use typewriter throughout high school. It was okay though. We got this one from my aunt's friend, who is an antique collector and it was really different. It's like handwritten, with good handwriting. It doesn't look typed at all.

It helped my brother and me out very much . Before that we had a type writer . I hated that thing !

We got our first computer in 1998, so I was 32 at the time. My daughters school required a computer for doing their assignments but we couldn't afford one. A friend I knew from work gave us one of his old office computers so she could do her assignments. Once we had the computer, my daughter and I shared it as we both learned how to use it. I've had 3 since then and have learned alot along the way. :)

Hi there paidreader! Wow! That won't do here - school requiring their students to have their own personal computer. Only a few can afford that. But I think it will be really great if every student will be computer literate. It just makes everything easier. Thank you very much for your response.

I guess I must have been in my 20s before I had a computer at home. But since then I've never looked back and if I look around me now I'm ashamed to say that my family have three set up!
• Philippines
24 May 08
Hi there GreenMoo! I think there's nothing to be ashamed of about that. If we don't own an internet cafe, we would probably have four or more computers set up in our house. Thank you very much for your response.

I had my first computer when I was 23, and my first laptop when I was 35. I still have the old laptop.. but have upgraded to a new one I got for $300 after rebates. It was a steal! I've had it for almost 4 years now, and have only had to upgrade the memory, but would love to have a bigger hard drive in it eventually. The desktop I have now I built myself. I still have a few old computers down there that I need to use to put together another machine for my son. I love building computers.. just wish I could make money doing it!

Hi there Deborah! Cute avatar. You can make money doing that I think, if you're within our area at least. Not much people here knows how to assemble their own computer here. Thank you very much for your response.

I don't even remember. Lets just say it was before Windows, yes you read that correctly. It was before Bill Gates, Microsoft, Apple, and the Internet. My first home computer had to be programmed using real programming language - DOS and RPG II were my personal favorites. My first had a orange screen (not green). I used it primarily for homework, really there wasn't much other reasons to use it. Even back then there were programs you could buy such as Word Processing and Spreadsheet programs. They weren't as pretty as they are today but they were serviceable. So now if you didn't already know it I have really given away my age.

Hi there Ivaldean! I think that you look younger than your age. If that's you in your avatar, you are beautiful. My cousin had a computer before that uses a real key for the CPU. I think it's pretty funny. It runs by DOS too. But it has green screen. Thank you very much for your response

Well I was born, in the generation before time began! So I didn't get introduced to the computer until 2004, when I was 55 yrs old! When I first heard of computers, I was reluctant, and stayed away from them, until I was finally cornered! Once I started, I learned very fast, and now the computer is an important part of my life, my music, and my business!

Hi there musicman! My mother just turned 50 last January and I would really like to teach her on how to use the computer and surf the internet. I'm sure that she will discover a whole new world when she learns how to. Thank you very much for your response.

Hi there Loco! That's really great! I think that it's nice that we own an internet cafe too and our son got familiar with the computers really early. He has been playing computer games since he was three. Only the easy ones like Spongebob games though. But now, he's better and plays games on Yahoo and Y8 too. Thank you very much for your response.
