How do you cure a sinus infection?

I seem to have developed a sinus infection, lots of yuckiness and congestion in my sinuses which is causing a blocked nose and feelings of pressure and making it hard to sleep. It doesn't feel as if I've got an actual cold and don't really feel ill with it, although I suppose this might follow :( Beyond taking paracetamol I'm quite clueless about what to do about it. I don't like taking lots of drugs and hate taking antibiotics unless I really have to. Does anyone have any suggestions, particularly for home remedies? Thanks.

I have read that onions are a great natural home remedy for colds and the like. According to my "nature doctor" book you could try cutting a thin slice of onion and dipping it in a mut of hot water for a couple of seconds. Then sip the hot water slowly. Or try having some chopped onion next to your bedside as you sleep. I think it is meant to work like olbas oil to clear your tubes!
Hope you find something to relieve the symptoms.

If your lucky then it will go on its own keep taking painkillers and something from the chemist for the congestion, stick your head over a bowl of hot water with menthol in it that really helps. However if its a really bad one nothing will make it go but antibiotics so if you start with a temperature then get straight to the drs as it can turn nasty really quickly, last time I had one within 2 days I was being sick and nothing shifted the pain in my head. Hope you feel better soon
