How could he do this?

In the city I live in, on the front page of our newspaper, there was a huge article about a university student who has been charged with animal abuse for abusing his puppy. Neighbours called the police when they saw him punching his puppy and throwing the puppy against a fire hydrant. The humane society came and examined the puppy. The injuries were so severe, they had to put this beautiful puppy down. It was heartbreaking. The man said he was just disciplining the puppy and he didn't know there were laws against this. Needless to say, there was an uproar from the community. Some of it justified, some of it vigilante style, some wanted the student deported before he was convicted. It looks like he is guilty, but that is for the courts to decide. When and if he is found guilty, I think he should be deported because I, for one do not want this sort of person in the country. I understand that people want the animal abuse to stop. This is just one of many cases that have come up and I wonder why people buy pets if they are not going to treat them with love and kindness. What sort of person abuses animals? Why did they get the pet in the first place? Is it their need to feel in control of something? Does it make them feel superior to have that much power over something? Pitiful is what they are. They should not be allowed own a pet and I fear if they have children, they will be just as abusive. Pets should be treated like a member of the family. Loved and cared for and anyone who thinks otherwise, should not be a pet owner. I feel there should be stiffer penalties for animal abuse and they should follow through on the stiffer punishments. I hope that with all the cases coming to light, something will finally be done.

This guy had better not drop the soap when he's rotting behind bars. People like this absolutely make me sick. Yes, I understand disciplining a pet, but abusing it by throwing it against a fire hydrant? What the hell are you thinking?!?!?! I certainly hope I hear about this guy getting deported, because that's crap.

There is a difference between disciplining and abusing an animal. Makes you wonder, if he ever has kids, how is he going to discipline them? Same way? I certainly hope not

This is terriable, I can not stand any sort of animal abuse. If people do not want animalls they should not get them. Animals are at our mercy for their everyday needs. They are innocent little creatures. All they want is to be feed and loved. This person should have to pay a huge fine, and they should never allow him to own any kind of pet again. There is no excuse for what he did.

that was so mean and he's retarded. there's a saying that ignorance of the law excuses no one and that's not an excuse for disciplining a puppy. if he wants to discipline that puppy, he should do it in a nice way. if i'm the judge, i'll send him to jail and get deported for sure
