Trainwreck!!! Arghhh!

I performed music (2 sets) at an Earth Day celebration today. Yesterday the band I was with backed out and I had to go it alone. Needless to say, having rehearsed a certain way I attempted to play the tunes acoustically and solo, with an unfamiliar sound system. It was to me, a trainwreck but my bruised ego won't let me see if the cmpliments I received were truth or politeness. Have you ever had to overcome something like this. What was it and what did you do?

I started to sing a special at church with a music tape I had not practiced with. I was very familiar with the song but not the arrangement, and I couldn't sing with it. I excused myself when I realized it wasn't the same tape I had used before, and sat down.
