you can actually start out pretty simply with soup cans or books as weights...then just raise them and slowly bring your arms back down...here's one video I found on YouTube:

Try www.sparkpeople.com for a whole library of exercises using both body weight and dumbells. There are detailed descriptions along with animated photos or video clips showing the correct position and form.
Pushups, pull ups, dips, pull downs, concentration curls, hammer curls, triceps kickbacks, french press, shoulder press, flys, 21s... all are some suggestions. I've built some pretty happy arms and shoulders over the past year =)

i dont know if it helps but you can get a heavy axe and chop things like an old couch or someting you dont need it really helped my arms it ached for awhile and you sweat as well but i never do it again for me its hard work it was an old axe have a great day
