Has anyone tried a SAD lightbox for seasonal affective disorder?

When we had a few days of sunshine recently I noticed how much difference it made to my mood and my general feeling of wellbeing. I felt so much happier and my worries felt quite insignificant. Then the sun disappeared again (such is the British weather), and I felt a slight feeling of doom descend upon me. I don't really feel depressed as such; things just don't feel as positive and hopeful as when the sun was shining. I've never noticed before how much a bit of sunshine affects me, but with this changeable weather I'm really noticing it. I've been wondering whether a lightbox would help me to even things out a bit and feel more positive for more of the time. Has anyone used one, and would you recommend it? (Has it changed anyone's life?)

I know a few people who use SAD lighting. One told me that she has seen some improvement. Sunlight does bring us up when we are down and replacing the natural rays of the sun with artificial may seem a waste of time for many, but for those who have used this therapy swear by it.

Thanks for your reply. I haven't got one yet, but when winter comes round again (not that we've really had much of a summer , I might consider it. Sorry it's taken me sooo long to reply to this discussion!

Hey not a problem. I understand fully. I hope that you are able to get some resolve with the SAD lighting. I now have one and plan on using it when I need it. The summer sun did wonders for my mood this year. I plan on keeping that upbeat feeling. Best wishes to you.
