Do you think myspace should have more steps to prove someones age?

Okay for instance my husbands cousin who is 12 had a myspace page secretly she was using it at one of her friends houses, I found it one day when I was searching for a friend and found out she had been talking to guys in their 20's, because of course she said she was 18, so do you think there should be more security measures for people to join myspace? and if so what extra step can they take?

I think that they should have to show verification of there age and that would include a phone number of the parents so they could verify it and also a security number put on there space so that only under 18 could get to there profiles for this is a big problem and alot of kids are getting in trouble big time. Again the parents also need to be watching there childrens internet actions both at home and let the parents of there friend aware of this also.

yes they have recently made it so anyone under 16 has to have a private profile but it is the parents responsibilty that there child is acting the right way while on my space and other network sites. it all boils down to parents pay attention to what your kids are doing while online plan and simply be responsible for your kids.

Well I don't think age should even be asked, I joined My Space and a couple of other sites but to me they seem to be dating sites which people have argued that they are not, so why worry about age, maybe they could have it in a private profile but eveyone should have the option of displaying it or not, I refuse to give my age to any site, why is my age relevantunless it is for other reasons than what My Spave is for...one of the sites I joined even states on the page meet singles in your area and people tell me it is not a dating site, when I orinally joined I got a few private messages straight away it sure seemed like a dating site to me. I think all sites unless it is for meeting and dating eveyone should have the option of displaying the age or not, what has it gor to do with anything else....

have you not seen all the problems with teenagers talking to adult predators and getting raped it has been all over the news and articles yes for sure we need to keep the teenagers off myspace or else make sure that the parents have to send some kind of confirmation phone number before they are allowed on there. again it is up to the parents to make sure what there kids are doing online if the parents are not watching what there children are doing on the internet then so be it can't feel sorry for them at all. Big world out there and it is up to the parents to make there children safe.
