Are you a fast or slow?

I am jsut wondering how many minutes does it take you to post or answer a discussion here at mylot? It took me an average about 10 minutes to complete answering a discussion. I usually read the topic first and then rate and read the response of others. After that I compose my response and upload some image (if possible), put remarks on the image and then add tag and I'm done, and then go find another discussion. I rarely wait for a remark by the poster of the discussion. Do you do that also? or you proceed to compose your remarks immediately to save time? Do you read, wait and rate also the remarks of others and the one who post the discussions or you go find another discussions after posting? So are you slow or fast? Please do share how do you response to a discussion? It is highly appreciated.

Hi Robert... For me it depend on the kind topic I responded to. There are topics that you can think a lot of explanation to discuss and elaborate and there are topics that and instant answer may have thought in mind that you can type as fast as you can. My style is while I'm reading the topic at the same time thinking if I have something to answer in my mind. But if the topic gets me to slow to think I rather not reply on it and leave it.

That's a good strategy. I also do this but sometimes I got stuck just reading all the replies.

It takes me about ten or twelve minutes to post my resonse to a discussion because I am always making dumb typos that have to be corrected but I do not read others answers first as I do not want my own thoughts muddled by others thoughts. then I add a bit to make my response more complete.I am about medium not slow or fast either one.

Oh! It never occurs to me that typing is also a factor here. I think I type above average and do make some typo errors and sometimes forgot to correct them. Like my title here, I forgot to remove the "a". Maybe you need to learn some typing lesson, to improve your skill and go very fast. There are typing skill development on the internet you can try it.

10 minutes is too long for me. I guess maximum of 5 minutes to do all that. And besides I don't response to those I can't relate much. That's usually slows me down. I have to think of what to say first. But if it's within my interest, words are flowing in my head and that's what exactly I'm writing.

That's true. If you know the discussion very well you can response to it quickly. Do you usually think first before writing what you thought?

Goodness gracious, I would have to say that I am slow at responding to discussions, but that is mostly my Internet connection's fault as it is slower than slow. If you haven't guess it, I am on dial-up, so it takes forever to respond to a discussion. I can't tell you how long it actually takes to respond to a discussion as I don't pay attention to such things, especially since I normally have more than one window/tab open at a time. Though I'll tell you this much, if I didn't do this I wouldn't respond to as many discussions as I do.

Well thank you Robert. I would if I could, but unfortunately for me where I live it is not an option. I'm out in the boonies where a faster Internet connection is not available. Maybe it will be one day, but until then I am stuck with dial-up.

Wow! It seems you are doing multitask (several windows open at the same time). It's a very good strategy. With 2500 responses you are doing good. You might want to consider changing to a faster internet connection.

I guess I am pretty fast, relatively. The time I spent on each discussion and response varies and it is hard to give a definite figure. A lot depends on the level of expertise required, seriousness of topic, delicateness of subject, among others. And yes, beyond the above, I have to see how much time I am willing to allocate to the discussion or responses. The more time I have to spend, the more thorough a "treatment" it would get. Cheers!

Good answer. I usually response to subjects within my expertise also, because time is gold. I don't usually response to a very delicate and serious subjets. It is very time consuming.

Yup, yup. No point trying to blabber nonsensically about something you have no idea of. And, provocative topics are hotbed for negativity.

That's true, there was this discussion about "Bible verses" and really the discussion is hot. I can't think of anything to say, so I just read and I was not able provide any response to the discussions.

well, It depends on the discussion itself. if it is complicated and needs a lot of thinking I take my time to respond especially if someone needs a help in his/her problem. it may take from 10 - 30 minutes. If the discussion about what I like or my hobbies, it is not gonna take more than 5 min.

Yap, you have to think carefully on the advice you are giving. You might get mis-interpreted and your advice will be useless.

I am a pretty fast responder as well. Whenever I see new discussions from friends, I would make it a point to answer them as fast as possible. Most of the discussions I came across are certainly interesting and I have something to contribute. And whenever I read discussions by friends, I would rate them positive normally and then read others' answers to them as well and rate them too. I rarely give out negative and for my own discussions, I try my best to comment to most of them, if not all. The way I response to a discussion is normally I read the contents of it, and I would be dying to type out quickly because the idea would be stored in my head and before I forget it, I want to as fast as possible type out the answer so that he/she would receive it. But the bad part is I'm an average typer and I wish that I could type more faster than this. Good topic here. Have a nice day and take care there. :)-

I can't think of what to say now but I like what you said. You make it a point to response to a friend, which is very good. I usually keep on revising what I'm thinking and typing and re-reading them and re-typing them so it take sometimes. At least for you, you already have your response on your head and you just need to type it out. Don't worry of the typing part, you can increase your speed by practicing. Have a nice day too!

That's fast. I think it helps to be fast if you type your response all in small letters.

Hi There. It really depends. Sometimes, I took time like 10-15 minutes to respond to a topic especially when I find the topic "sensitive", I take my sweet time to respond a good one about my opinion without hurting other people. If the discussion is light then I respond faster because it is easier to respond with that simple but nice topic as well so for me it really depends on the content of the discussion. Cheers!

It takes me small amount of time in responding to lighter topics.. you know.. like a simple question on "hows your day?" or "Your favorite..." some stuff like that. It takes me 10-15 minutes to respond on topics who is really sensitive because it requires a serious and careful advice for that person. :)

Hi. I'm slow definitely :D. Reason?? my English is poor. And this is the reason why I join here. I want practise this language and this site is good way for that. of course before I write when I read posts people who discus. it took me about ten - fifteen minutes. And then if I think that subject is interesting for me I response. And everything took me 20-25 minutes. So I don't wait for a remark, but often I back to discussion I've responded later.

Well, I really have not given that a tought. I am still learning about the ropes. I may need to understand more about uploading images, rating, etc and how it will impact me as an end-user. You may share your thoughts on this so I may improve.

I think I am a bit slow. It usually takes me about 10 to 15 minutes to make a single post if I respond to a long discussion as I have to spend quite some time to go over it. For those shorter discussions I would spend shorter time to tackle them. I always do mylotting in a rather relaxed manner. Sometimes I leave my computer and sit in front of the tv if there is any interesting and attractive program. Quite often the online chatting also interrupts the posting.

I also do that, leave my computer and do something else and come back again. Does the online chatting pay you also? or you just enjoy chatting than posting?

online activities - working on my online activities
It really depends. There are times when I do have other things to do but could not skip my daily myLot activities so I would work for less than an hour and make sure that I do as much as I can. When this happens, I do work on my myLot activities as fast as I can. Of course, I rate discussions, I also rate responses left for discussions I have started even when I am rushing. There are also times when I have so much time to spare that I take time to respond to discussions started by my friends, respond to discussions from my interests and respond to top discussions. At the same time, I do not forget to rate interesting discussions and good responses. I also take my time to think of good topics for discussions.

You even have time to add some image on your discussion. Do you think the time to add the image is worth more than by just posting to a discussion? I am just wondering.

Ive never really stoppedto think how long a response takes me!..I just tend to type away until i think that I have said all that I want to say. Some posts ask for stories or accounts of things that have happened to you..if thats the case it takes a bit longer...the response is probably longer. Because im new or relatively new to Mylot..ive not really entered into the rating system too much..because I simply dont understand it!!! But if the discussion topic is good then I will often read down the comments ..some of them are very interesting...and some of them are very funny!!!!

i am here new at the mylot so i take alot of time here at the discussions. i first read the discussions and then read the discussion of others responded already to the discussion and then i rate them accordingly. in last i post my reply keeping its quality and making it very sure that it should be different from the other replies and then i go through what i have written to ensure i have written correctly and pointly. in all this course at an average of 20 minutes i take to post.

That's a lot of time. You need to reduce it to post more to a discussion. A 20 minute spend for a cent is not worthwhile for me. Choice discussion you post wisely to reduce your minutes. Maybe you can post first before rating and reading the discussion posted by others.
