Band Geek Reunion

I just had the best night I've had in a really long time. My high school band director is retiring this year. So for his retirement everyone pitched in to throw him a surprise retirement party. This was basically a huge band reunion. They put together a small band with present band students and alumni band students to play a few songs for him. And there was an awesome slideshow presentation of past and present pictures. This brought back so many great memories. It was so awesome catching up with some of my old friends that I haven't seen in so long. Band was really my family in high school. I'm still on touch with a few of my close friends from band. But growing up, having jobs and kids prevents us from seeing each other too often. So it was so nice to get to have a night to hang out with them again and remember the fun times we had in high school. The only part that was sad for me is that this is probably the last time we'll ever have all of these people together again. I mean yes there are class reunions. But that doesn't include all of my friends from other classes. Oh well I'm just glad we had this night to get together and celebrate our band directors retirement. It was truly the best night I've had in a very long time. I'm really a band geek when I look more forward to something like this and could care less about my class reunion coming up next year.
