Do you believe in miracles?

Every day, things happen that have no apparent 'rational' explanation! Take for example what happened to me on July 18, 1980 when I was 14 years old. At 4:40am I woke up with a sense of panic that there was something wrong with my dad. I dismissed it and went back to sleep. At 2:30pm one of the yard monitors at school came to my classroom and told me that there was someone to see me in the interview room. When I arrived I found my social worker (I was a ward of the state at the time). She told me to sit down because she had some bad news for me. When I sat down she informed me that my father had died that morning. "What time?" I asked, "No, don't tell me, I'll tell you! It was 4:40am wasn't it?" She looked at me in shock and confirmed the time. The day of his funeral I had an asthma attack and ended up going to the hospital where he had died. I told the nurse that I thought I had the attack because I was stressed over the funeral and informed her that dad had died in that hospital the previous friday morning. She told me that she was working that morning and asked his name so I told her. As it turned out she was with him when he died. Apparently, he had a heart attack and died, but they managed to revive him. He called my name but then his heart stopped again and they couldn't revive him. The only explanation I can give is that at some level, I 'heard' that call and woke up. Yes, some of you might say it was just a coincidence... but it was one heck of a coincidence if you ask me. After all, I woke up at the exact time of his death with a conviction that there was something wrong with him. Another friend of mine went into hospital to have a histerectomy because she was having problems with menopause. When the doctors opened her up they found that her whole abdomen was riddled with cancer. They didn't have time to operate at that time so they closed her back up. They told her she only had weeks to live but they would schedule her for surgery to see if they could remove some of it to prolong her life for up to six months. Anyway, she called the pastor of our church and asked him to come pray for her. He and an elder went and laid hands on her and prayed for healing. Two days later the doctors put her in surgery to try to remove as much as they could... only to find that the cancer had entirely disappeared (remember, this surgeon had seen the cancer with his own eyes!). This lady is still alive over 30 years later! So, do you believe in miracles? Have you experienced any miracles that you would like to share here?

Ooh...I don't believe in coincidences. I'm sure you heard your dad call your name. That is a beautiful story. Thanks for sharing.

i believe in miracles during the time of Jesus but nowadays miracle is no more. I don't believe in healing miracles as what healers might do to the public to get more money. i don't believe that miracle now is came from God.

I've always found that to be an interesting perspective... and it's more common than people might realise. Unfortunately, many of the TV evangelists have given religion a bad name. With their huge churches and seemingly bottomless supply of money coming in from their congregations. Oh, don't get me wrong, they work hard for what they get... but should they really be benefitting in this life from their ministry. Personally, I would prefer to live frugally in this life and find a bountiful reward in heaven. But not all ministers are in it for the money... in fact, I would say most of them have very little money.

I agree with you there... there is a reason for everything. But that doesn't mean that some things that are hard to explain don't happen. Would you agree with me on that? That at this point in time science doesn't have all the answers?

Yes I do believe in miracles. And I believe in the power of God to heal even the worst sickness of all. If we just trust and believe in Him, miracles will happen in our lives.

I saw several miracles in my church like that. Apart from the one I originally mentioned of the woman with cancer. There was also another woman with cancer who was entirely healed despite the prognosis of only a few weeks to live. I also saw on of our members who had been confined to a wheelchair for over 15 years because of multiple schlerosis who got up and walked (an ran) after being prayed for by a man who had a healing ministry... she is still on her own feet to this day, and that was about 20 years ago now.

The miracle of healing my mind and body is probably the greatest miracle a person could ever have and the chance to continue living life is the greatest miracle in the world.

I agree entirely that those life saving miracles are fantastic. I've had a couple of those myself. NOt the healing of physical ailments but shall we say 'divine intervention' that stopped me from being hurt or killed. Like the time when I was three years old and staying with a family friend while my parents were working. I was a very good little girl who ALWAYS went for her afternoon nap without argument and without fighting it. This day however was different. Audrey put me to bed in her sons room and a couple of minutes later I came out again saying I couldn't sleep. She put me back to bed, but I did exactly the same thing again. Apparently I did it 5-6 times which was highly unusual. I finally asked if I could lay on the couch so she let me. The day was extremely stormy and windy and about two minutes later (after I'd already fallen asleep on the couch) the wind came in a particularly strong gust that entirely lifted a plastic wading pool and hurled it through the window of the bedroom I was meant to be sleeping in. Audrey went in and found the bed covered with shards of glass (it was directly under the window) and with the pool on top of it. There was also a 6" shard of glass that had been blown clear across the room to embed itself in the wardrobe. Audrey was a Christian lady and just gave thanks to God. When I think of this story I get this amusing image of my guardian angel poking and tickling me to keep me awake and sending me out of the room so I wouldn't be there when the incident occurred.
