I'm all for "Go Green" when possible....didn't know this was possible! Cardboard coffins — which are as thick as their wooden counterparts — can be decorated by family and biodegrade within three months. Read more..... rather interesting! And you gotta ask...what happens when the grave yards get full? I have not heard (Not that it means it hasn't been done) of any new grave yards being built anywhere near me. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080420/ap_on_re_eu/green_graves

I"m all for it too. Although I still prefer cremation. I"M using my space while living when I die, the less space I take the better, and if it's only my ashes better yet :) If I could my ashes would be spread in some nice beach, but since that is not allowed in most places now - don't really know why - I guess I don't really care if they will be used to grow flowers in the backyard or whatever. I just expect for people to be nice to me when I'm alive, after that... hey... it doesn't really matter that much anymore. Go green... just a nice idea, only hope that it won't be used as a fad with prices hiking so much only the rich can do it :):)

I would like to have my ashes air-spread over Texas Canyon, AZ - the most beautiful and calm place in the world! More memories there than anywhere else for me ... except Bracketville TX and I don't think Happy Shahan's family would allow that!

I don't see what difference it makes. I would like to be cremated so I don't want to go anywhere near the ground. I don't like bugs and I can't spend eternity surrounded by them. But for those who want to be buried. I think it's a great cost effective idea!

I can't see the point to spend that much money for all but nothing! I heard that for $1,000 you can have your ashes shot to the moon - like they did for Scotty of Star Trek - I always had a crush on that Scottish cutie, would suit me just fine to meet up with him!

I read that article on Fox News today. I think that is a great idea. I always wondered why people spent thousands of dollars on coffins just to have them put in the ground. As far as graveyards getting full, I don't think that happens very often. I know around here people have family graves and one person gets buried on another.

Certainly have never heard of them filling up! But what about head stones? I mean if you have several on top of each other, every grave has a head stone. so what do they do about that? And I to, think it is stupid and wasteful to spend so many thousands of dollars on a coffin and all. Shot me to the moon for all I care! I'd rather spend the money here with my family and enjoy them now while I am living!

Oh, so instead of family plots side by side, they are now up and down. Makes sense.

Our bodies are but the vessels that our souls sail in during our lives. I believe in trying to not pollute Mother Earth because we are doing too much already. There are not enough trees in the world now and that (planting a tree over a grave that is not preserves) planting one over my grave will give back to Mother Earth so of what I have taken away during my life.

I read about this and I think its a really good idea to plant a tree instead of making a grave with marble and stone. The coffin is biodegradable and the trees will benefit from the bodies when they decompose. Cardboard coffins are already available in Britain. It is much better than using hardwoods like oak and mahogany as trees have to be destroyed to produce these.
