Ps I must add ,that even though i do love my pets,if i ever came down betwween them or my children well my children of course would come first..I gave birth to them and they are humans...I do not think a mother could put her beloved pet above her own children....

My kitty is my baby, he acts like one too. He will look at me and crawl up into my lap when he feels I have worked enough. Lay on the pc and inform me when he is hungry, he sleeps right next to my head and is one of the best companions I have. Yeah, he is my son. Ainge

my pets are my children, I treat them as such and I am their mommy, they look at me to fulfill their every need just like a real parent does for a child.

Our dogs are as much a part of the family as the humans are. I am a sucker for animals. I'm not crazy about birds since I prefer them free but I like most other animals. Our dogs seem to tolerate us. I dont understand how people can treat pets so poorly.

My dog is a member of the family. I do not think of him as my child but he is not just a pet either. It is a good relationship. We love him very much but he still needs discipline etc. Dogs do not grow up the way people do after all. They need to know they are loved and wanted.

I tend to treat the pets like family members, even if I cannot treat them like human, but I love the pets very much. I don’t know how we should describe it, because a father would treat the daughter and son different way (because sometimes we cannot teach daughter the way we teach the son and vice versa) but he loved them just the same, and towards the wife, would be different too. I think that’s just similar towards the pets. I would rather call the pets “parts of family”. Well, perhaps like children when the pets were younger, but pets would grow up too, and one day they would become friends rather than remaining as children.

I have two beagle dogs, and i thought i loved them as if they were my children...until i had my baby almost 3 months ago...there is no love that is as strong as the love i feel for my baby...of course i totally love my pets too, but they come second. Hubby is no.1 with my baby boy!

I do not consider my pets - my children nor do I consider them "just pets". They ARE members of my family though and they have their own special place in my heart.

Well, I no longer have any pets, but when I had my lovely dog then she was more like my child than an animal. She used to sleep in bed with me, and sit on the chair with me, she would get special dinners with me and she would also enjoy a cup of tea each morning too! She even used to let me dress her up too, she definately would have been shocked if someone had told her she was a dog!!

All my pets are treated in the best way for their species, they are valued members of my family and loved as such. The only time I treat them in any way like children is when I have a puppy or kitten to raise. Then they get the same 'understanding' as a baby and the same kind of gentle discipline. According to my now adult kids, I treat all animals with more patience than I do people, but then I expect more from Humans!

hello mahesh2008, i have pets all my life and i treat them not as my kids BUT as my FAMILY. i honestly dont treat them just as a pet coz they bring me happiness and peace and i just love them. i have seen others treat animals badly and i wish if they cannot love them at least respect them as living creatures of this world as well. just my thoughts. how about you, do you have pets? how do you treat them? takecare!

all my pets, past and present, were and are my children. they are like babies that dont grow up. but i think animal babies are much easier than human babies. so i am happy with just pets now.

I would say that my pets are not like children to me. But they are part of the family. They are my constant companion and like a friend to me.

this is difficult as i wouldnt say that my pets are just pets to me, they are part of the family and we all treat them with respect and love them. But i wouldnt compare the love i have for my chidlren with that i have for the pets, if it came down to a decision between a pet or a child i know which would come first thats for sure.

My mums friend treated hers like children and she is going the same way with the new one too but not in a good way. She has been known to feed it with a fork it sleeps in her bed between her and her hubby (I wouldnt let my children come between us like that let alone an animal) well the list is endless, its ok to care for them like you would a child but some people just go over the top. thats just my opinion though
