This could fit in a bunch of different categories but I decided on movies. It could have also gone in the TV interest or reading or Stephen King since it's a movie made for TV based on a Stephen King novel! Anyway, now that I've got that out of the way... Last night I watched Salem's Lot, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. I read the book years ago so while i remembered some things much of it was new to me. For those of you not familiar with either the novel or the TNT movie, it was about a small town that was taken over by vampires. That's a very brief summary of the plot but that's it in a nutshell. It also centers around a seemingly evil house where the main character had, as a child, witnessed a suicide and what he'd always thought had been the murder of a child that he believed he could have prevented but had been too "cowardly" to do so. I have to say that while a lot of movies based on novels end up being disappointing and especially those made for TV, I thought this one was very well-done. It sure kept me at the edge of my seat and made me and my two cats a bit jumpy from time to time. So, since this is a discussion and not a review, have any of you seen this movie? If so, what did you think? How do you think it compares to the book? Also, do you believe in vampires? Annie

Salem's Lot was really scary at least the book was. I haven't seen the movie. I don't believe in Vampires. I believe that there are people who want to be storybook Vampire characters but I don't believe in there ever being actual vampires.
