Favorite novels

There are lots of novels sold in bookshops and most of them are romance novels. I often see Harlequin books and historical romance stories which are among my favorites. For me, it's the stories about adventure, heartaches and eventual happiness that draw me to them. I am most fond of the historical stories. I love to read history of different states as I was growing up so it kind of stuck on me now. Medieval romances fascinate me and I love picturing those damsels in distressrescued by their knights in shining armor. This kind of hobby gives me my needed break from the kind of job that I have. I get to break away from my very hectic schedule and 24-hour duties by reading in my room. I don't have preferences for authors, I am after the stories of each book that I buy. What is your favorite novel?

I don't care much about what Author has written which story, unless it's an author that I know I adore, because its the stories which draw me in. Whenever I buy a new book, I always read the last page, and if it draws me in I read it. I simply adore historical books, whether they're romance or not. I love fantasy as well, especially if it's sort of like Lord of the Rings with Elves and Wizards and things, and stories set in the medieval age. I love celtic mythology. I just read a fantastic book but Juliet Marillier called Daughter of the Forest. It ticked every single box for me. It's a retelling of the tale of Seven swans (except this one only has six swans - but who am I to be fenicky?). If you haven't already read it, I really recommend it =)

I have read a few romance novels, but they are not my favorite. I too like historical stories and also stories about time travel. My favorite novel is called Kindred by Octavia Butler. It is a time travel story, but also has a romantic side to it too.

I don't have a favorite novel. I'll read almost anything, but my favorite type is romance novels. I like mysteries and historical ones too.

You sound like my mum. I'm not much for the historical romance stories, but she has piles of books in our spare room. She's read all of them- some of them more than once! I can never find a historical romance book with enough plot to keep me going, and I'm not so much for the "damsel in distress" situation. I'm a romantic at heart, but I prefer having a romance worked into a novel with some subtlety.
