Is this an age of greed and avarice, the wish to make more and more money?

Everywhere I see, I see people only wanting to make more and more money, and they care about nothing else. What is your opinion?

no, this is existing from the date imemmorial but there wasn't much publicity for it in those days as there were no media coverage as we see today. Perhaps it was more in ancient days

Both you and Oriental (above) are echoing the same thought, but I feel that people in the olden days lived less for money because their lives were not controlled by the $, as ours are. In other words their lives, i think, were less controlled by material concerns and more by spiritual/noble/character aspects.

Avarice and greed have always existed. Perhaps nowadays they are not seen as "sins" as they were in the past. For this reason, they may be more extended in human society.
