How often do you wash your clothes?

I was reading on Oprahs ideas to save energy and money and she said to wash clothes only when they need it. How often do they need it? I wash my jeans every few days and my shirts almost every time I wear them. I think they need it that much, especialy if it is warm out. Am I washing more often then I need to? How often do you wash your clothes?

I wash t-shirts after wearing them about 3 times... jeans maybe once a week... And of course underwear everytime they are worn they must be washed... In general I do the laundry once a week...

We wash our under garments each time we wear them. We each own 7 pair so it works out to do them twice a week, so we never run out. We wash every thing else a lot more then you. Im not sure how to do it. I dont want to stink and we play hard.

My under garments are somewhere in the market of $7 a pair. We have what we can afford and keep organized. We used to have more but it became a hassle to dig through to find the pairs we liked. We got rid of thoes we didnt use as much and now we just have our favorites. It has simplified us a bit.

well if you buy more of everything... I have enough to get me thtough the week by taking a shower every day or even twice a day... The same with t-shirts... You don't really need to wash your jeans that often... The money you will spend on the clothing will be much less than the money you spend on water and electricity...

I wash my shirts every time I wear them, jeans typically go at least 2 wearings before washing. I don't think I wash excessively. We have 3 people in the house, I do about 4 loads a week. I don't think that is bad at ll.

We have 4 people in the house and I feel like I am washing all the time. Its okay though. I dont hate to wash all that much though. It could be a lot worse.

I always wear my jeans at least two times a week because they are never that dirty, and my t-shirts and what not I only wear once. I usually wear bras more than once and then at the end of the week, everything gets washed. Oh yeah, I also reuse my bath towels the entire week before I wash them too. I don't see any reason to dirty up a bunch of towels unless I need to.

Same here. Bras get wore a few more times and jeans I wear about twice sometimes 3 times. When I get home I take my jeans off and put on house clothes, so I fiuger they can go longer. Shirts I was each time I wear them. I wash bath towels twice a week but we share them so I feel like we get good use out of them.

I wash my jeans after two or three wearings depending on what I've done with them or what I will be wearing them for next...not much point in washing semi-dirty jeans if I need them to go work outside. Shirts...I wash pretty much every time I wear them. I'm still nursing and so I do leak on occassion...plus with little ones I get all sorts of sticky hugs and handprints. Pajamas...probably get washed after a few nights, but it depends on the weather and if the baby woke up during the night or not.

When I was nursing my babies I felt like I was going through 3 or 4 shirts a day just to keep comfortable. It was a really awkward time for us, but it was great to keep things so easy. Little ones make little messes everywhere.

I do laundry all the time but I do use cold water. It washes just as well and has saved me a noticeable amount on the gas bill .

It sounds like you are messy like us. My hubby works outside and I have kids that make messes on them and me. I do feel so lucky to have washer. We went sometime with out one and it was hard on me.

I try to do a wash every week but sometimes its more like two weeks just depends on how much I have to do. but it is easier for me to do it every weekend as I have a bad arm and cannot carry alot of heavy baskets.

I would like to get a good system for laundry. I do it all the time now and it seems never ending. I wish I had a plan where I was only washing twice a week and the family knew to get me the stuff then. I keep trying but we run out of things we need so there I am back to washing.

The clothes I have worn that day I wash them either that night or the following morning, yes its probably too much but I have two children under 5 who often have sticky fingers (or worse lol) and its become habit since they were babies and sicking up on me. Im sure as they get older and cleaner with eating il be able to stay cleaner too!

I have young kids too and I am always drowing in laundry that needs to be done. There are sure things that need to be delt with that day but I was thinking that maybe I could get another day out of my shirts. I really dont think I can though, not beacuse I am dirty I just would think about it the whole time. Maybe I need to rethink it all.

Agree with with the energy saving. I gathered the cloths in two different basket for seperate color clothes. White and darks color cloths basically. Once they are filled up, I will wash them. It is just about 3 times a week.

We each have our own hampers instead of sorting things out. My kids are still a bit young to be sorting dependably so I would just end up redoing it.
