Is Our Nation Running Out of Food?

United States

I listened to a news report earlier today that addressed the issue that our nation isn't producing as much food and our storage facilities in this country are being depleted quickly. That is part of the reason our food prices have gone up significantly. So, what are we going to do if we can't produce enough food to feed everyone in this country? I wonder how the people who don't seem to have any problem with the invasion of illegal immigrants are going to react if and when this country begins to have a shortage of food? When it comes down to survival, I think that a lot of these people who are so willing to open our country up to so many people are going to think twice about the situation. Now, the people with lots of money who will be able to afford extreme prices won't be so affected. But those in the lower and middle classes who virtually live paycheck to paycheck are going to find it difficult to feed their families and they are going to start taking a second thought when it comes to all of these millions of people who are living off of our country and not giving back. Before it comes to that, I think that the people in this country should start realizing that this country is not able to support as many people who are living here long term. I don't have anything against someone who wants to improve their life by coming here through proper channels but the illegal immigration situation is becoming deadly for this country. It's affecting all levels of our economy and could ultimately affect our very existence.

You don't need to worry about a food shortage in the United States anytime soon. Did you know that the government pays farmers not to produce any crops or a certain type of crop every year? Or did you know that authorities also burn and dispose of large amounts of food to keep just a specific amount on the market? It's all about regulating prices, even though it would be much more sensible (and human) to send the excess food to a needy country. We shouldn't run out of food anytime soon because the government obviously thinks we have more than we need already.
