e-gold is an online currency which you can spend and recieve online. Most of the websites now accept e-gold as a payment mode. YOu can even withdraw using exchange agents.

I was wondering about e-gold, too. There are some sites that only have e-gold and it made me wonder what the difference was and why they didn't have PayPal or AlertPay. It's good to know to watch out for an account with them being hacked. Nothing is safe, I guess.
