'Life-saving treatment must always be made available to patients'

Discuss! Obviously coming from the UK my initial gut reaction says yes! oh course - NHS to the rescue. But then there's the issues about smokers getting lung cancer, and obese people developing related illnesses - also a big one is criminals. Should serial murderers or rapists really be offered an organ transplant, especially when that often means they'll skip to the top priority. I'd really like to hear your worldwide vews on this topic. Thanks!

I think that life-saving treatments should ONLY be available to law-abiding citizens; to those who have not committed violence crimes. I'd hate to think that a relative of mine might not get a liver transplant, for example, because some rapist or murder (serial or one-time) is ahead on the list.
