I have a 21 month old toddler, She is the brightest thing, she pick things up so fast. Well the down side to that is shes always getting hurt cause she thinks she can do things that bug sissy or other people can do. shes already climber to the top bunk of there bed by herself. and she climbs just about anything. shes always getting bumps and bruises, lol makes me feel bad when we go to the store and people stare at her like what happened to that baby?? lol this week it was a black eye from running into the kitchen and slipping just before the stove and hitting her eye on the bar that runs across the broiler on the bottom. now my oldest is the complete opposite she wont do anything unless its safe, she will tell you that herself lol. there completely different. but do any of you have the brave/accident prone child?

Hi yes I know what your talking about and I have been there myself. We have 5 children, and my oldest son was like your toddler although it didn't start until he was about 5 years old. This is when he decided he was Superman and was incapable of getting hurt. I believe we took him in for stitches 3 times in one week when he got his training wheels taken off his bike. He was in the back alley trying to do ramp jumps with the older kids. He then the next week had to be rushed to the ER because of falling and hitting his head on the pavement, I remember the goose egg looking as though someone stuck a soft ball under his skin. The only comfort I can offer you is that he is now 17 and thankfully still with us. He is no longer is as daring as he used to be but I have to say he is still more daring than the rest of us. Best wishes with your child, I hope she grows to accept her limitations but keeps the her heart true to her desires and attempts them anyway.

Oh yes, my middle son thought nothing about safty.. he is turning 22 next month, and come to think about it he is still a study in boo boo's Just getting out of a hand cast for unsafe tire change. I was the same as you are embarrassed to take him any where thinking people were thinking I had done something to him. LMAO but all they had to do is be around him for a few minutes and the picture was quite clear, he was a monkey with out a tail.

hi guinness oh my son when he was little was unafraid so he ran into the corner of the coffee table and tore his lio, had to have four stitches in it,another time he and a friend were playing in the backyard with bamboo sticks and his friend hit my son in the eye, we had to go to the doctor who put in antibiotic and anti pain eye drops in his eye. the scratch was on the surface and did not injure his eye. finally he got older and was much nore careful He was also a gifted child and gifted teen too.

Hi, guinness1982. My youngest daughter gets bruised up from time to time. It is not very often when it happens though. That is how kids are, they are very curious and clever to know what is what in life. So, they go beyond measures to experiment on something that could be very dangerous. I hope that you daughter is doing fine and that she doesn't have anymore bruises on her. My oldest daughter, on the other hand has done many things that could cause her to fall and hurt herself very badly. My daughter, has climbed upon the cabinet without standing on a chair. She will climb on top of the counter top just to get access to the cabinet. If she would have fallen, then she would hit the hard floor! I know how you feel, I have to constantly stay on alert, when it comes to all of my children.

I know exactly what you mean. My child has always been accident prone and she is 9 now. There is hardly ever a time that she is not covered in bumps and bruises. I always tell her people are going to think I am beating you. She is a little dare devil and can be very clumsy, so I am with you on this one.
