Is there a trick to getting a Virtual Assistant job?

I have noticed that a lot of people want Virtual Assistants with experience. Now I have over 10 years office experience, some of it working from home, but not real "Virtual Assistant". How can someone like me get a VA job?

Hello there sedel, I've definitely heard before of VA jobs and they are mainly through online. If I'm not mistaken, you can find jobs like this in www.wahm.com (not sure if the spelling is right), or you can check out genuinejobs.com. You have to find out whether the url is really right, for I'm not so sure about it. These are hearsays that I have seen others use before. I think with your kind of experience, you have no problem being a good VA. Good luck to you, my friend.

I will check out wahm.com; I have been using genuine jobs.com. They have not listed a VA job in awhile. I am also using indeed.com

What do you mean not 'real'? Anything work you do 'virtually' is experience... actually, any experience in the field is GREAT! I'm a virtual assistant. I get most of my clients through word of mouth however this weekend I got one through Guru.com. To become a VA, all you need to do is market yourself. Let people know what you do and go for it!

After posting I realized you said VA 'job'... are you looking for employment? or do you want to be self-employed?

I don't care if I am self employed. That would be nice. Seems like most of the jobs I am finding online are for a real job. I just need a contract or job that is stable and pays well enough that I can afford to stay home.
