Problem about mosquitos?

many people in Florida in the US are inviting bats to live in their backyards. they are setting up bat pads about the size of birdhouses to give the flying mammals a place to call home. Why? Because bats love mosquitos, they can eat about 600 of them an hour, making them an ideal alternative to chemical pesticides. Now do you love bats or mosquitos?

Very interesting comments there Omar. I don't mind bats, its the mosquitoes I hate most. Didn't know bats love mosquitoes. Unfortunately we live in an urban area so like you said bats where driven out by technologies and live elsewhere. I can't accept having bats inside the house either, so we use the same thing that drives the bats away - technology.

You can drive away or killed mosquitos by insecticide but its another cause of this so-called global warming. Better use mosquito traps, like the one with blue lights, mosquitos are attracted to this color and once they get near this thing they got burned, its also effective to get rid of other insects inside our households.

No, I don't want bats either. They are like rats with wings. They also belong to the rodents family. Imagine a flying rat, yikes.

Sorry I was just afraid of bats flying around if that would be the only way to get rid of mosquitos. But I don't want them to disappear totally on the face of the earth. I mean, there could be safe ways like proper sanitation, covering water pails, etc. I have even heard that mosquitos are afraid of eucalyptus trees. That also may help if you plant some eucalyptus trees but if it's not possible to be carried out, there could be other ways perhaps like... have you heard of lanzones being used to combat mosquitos? Some people say it can drive mosquitos away if you burn the peel of lanzones fruit but I'm not sure if that's true. I haven't tried that but if it's factual, it may just require tidying up later. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that, in my case, even I believe employing bats to be effective against mosquitos. I'm just afraid of bats. I'll use another means.

Imagine life without bats or any other animals or insects that live to eat mosquitos, dengue might be everywhere.

Bats and mosquitoes are animals like us. Bats are mammals like us. We are more closely related to bats than to mosquitoes. For mosquitoes, we are food. They surely love us but I doubt if we love them. Bats love mosquitoes. Go figure.

A few years ago we had bats, but not anymore. Not sure why. I would like to have them back, we have a lot of mosquitos.

Maybe because technology is everywhere and a lot of noises distract those bats and they cannot concentrate on flying well and getting their food, since bats can only rely on their sonar made ears to find their way on getting food for themeselves.

Mosquitos carries deseases such as malaria and dengue, which are deadly especialy to our young ones. If you don't love bats flying around better try other alternative that can drive away mosquitos too. This days we should be more researchfull in order to live long and as well as protect our youngs.
