Most people don't consider Earth Day a "holiday"

Many people may not consider Earth Day to be a technical holiday, but why not celebrate our planet? It's a beautiful place and everyone should be educated on how to take better care of it and respect mother nature, in my opinion.
One of my favorite comics, who is also vegetarian and an environmentalist, appeared on CNN this morning in honor of Earth Day and if you'd like to see it, please follow this link:

HAPPY EARH DAY!

I think it is a wonderful gesture and lots of celebrations were happening in our downtown core but it is not a holiday in the sense that people get time of work for it.

I do consider Earth Day a holiday. It is a day to appreciate and learn how to better protect our planet. This is a beautiful place and if people want the planet to be still around in years to come we need to do things that take care of this wonderful place. I for one believe in Earth Day.

This is true, I suppose especially for those who have children or nieces and nephews. How would they feel if their loved ones had to live in a world we couldn't breathe without apparatuses to help us, and worry about how much water you use to an extreme point, etc.
Has anyone checked out that link I added with Dan Piraro?
