Do you have hair stereotypes?

I recently cut my hair short, really short for the second time. I asked the hairdresser for a short hairstyle and I was very satisfied with the result. But people had different reactions when they see me for the first time after I cut my hair. Examples of reactions I get: Girls and gays: You look feminine. You look chic. Nice haircut. Cosmo girl. Guys: Dude, you're one of us now! Have you turned into a lesbian? You're more boyish than ever. You're prettier with long hair. I really don't understand why the reactions are so different, extremes even. How would you explain these reactions? And do you also stereotype people according to their hairstyles (i.e., emo, punk, etc.)?

Well I try not to but yes I think I do, because sometimes when someone cuts their hair it makes them look so different .
