A Necessary Evil

We all want it, some of us have it,alot of us don't, some of us work our butts off for it. Money! the biggest necessary evil in life. If only we could live without it! Another one is "OIL" and we can't seem to live without that either. I truly wish we could come up with alternative power and gas sources. We could use "wind" but that would cost billions. they have the wind mills in California, why not everyhwere....well...again...money, it takes one necessary evil to prevent another. I watched this movied called "Tooth and Nail" awhile back and it was about what happened to the planet after we ran out of oil. You can only imagine. Civilization pretty much went down the drain. Food was scarece, there was very little gas and some people resorted to cannibalism. Sounds pretty "out there" doesn't it, but just think about it, it could happen. These necessary evils will some day destroy us all. The bible says "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to get in to heaven" and the "Meek shall inherit the earth" so the next time you think being rich and famous is where it's at, think again. Go green.

I live in Ohio and they're trying to get some wind power installed here. There are some places that are ideal for it! But there is a great wailing and gnashing of teeth and signs all over the countryside against the wind turbines. Most are afraid of the noise and say birds will die. Well, there was a delegation that visited a wind farm and reported that the noise wasn't bad at all. And usually they put them in isolated places. As for the birds, except for sick ones that lose their sense of direction, they will avoid large objects and wind flows. The oil situation is out of hand. We could've had independence from oil years ago except the gov't is in bed with the oil companies and hinges our economy on big business. I hate that phrase "go green" but can't think of anything better! I save all the energy I can and rarely throw anything away, preferring to reuse or recycle. It's cheaper that way, too!

I just hate what's happening to this planet. I also try to do what I can to save energy, water, etc. I take all my cans to a recycling place, use cotton bags for groceries, recycle newspapers, unplug things that don't need to be plugged in all the time, etc. I don't know, maybe it's too little too late, but I am hoping if everyone pitches in and does their thing, we might be able to stop some of it.

The way I think of it is ... Money doesn't buy happieness but does give us options. When you have options you are happier by nature. It IS a necessary evil!
